Help Wanted With Valuation Please
I'm afraid so. Quite a few have turned up over the last couple of years (might be one o the reasons why it's getting a bit more plays here and there).

Vel Vettes-Give Me A Little Bit Of Time-Round
Sold a copy last year for £100, but there was a fair bit of interest in it, so I'm guessing price on this one will rise. It's quality and very tough to track down. $500 is a wee bit optimistic though...

More Ebay Madness
Imo the stain on all those copies was probably a way to show the record was reduced in price back in the day. Same as the yellow paint mark you see more often (or the bb hole which is of course seen even more often).

To be Frank I'm as unfamiliar with mixcloud as you are. I'm hoping to be able to upload it on a blog where the mix is downloadable as soon as possible...

Diggin' Dave - Winter Heat 45 Mix
I felt it was time for a new mix, so I spent a few sleepless nights putting together some of my favourite 45s. The mix features soul, gospel, funk, garage, blues and popcorn 45s and it's a mix of known tunes and obscurities. The idea behind the project was to make a cheerful mix for all those who are eagerly awaiting spring and summer and all the good things that come with it You can hear it here: https://www.mixcloud.com/DigginDave/diggin-davedudeski-winter-heat/ Any feedback greatly appreciated. And I'm buying a pint for anyone that already knew all tracks in this mix Here's the tracklist: 1. Burnis Geddis - He may come when you want him 2. Sugar Hill - Slow down 3. Amanda Love - You keep calling me by her name 4. Carl Carlton - I can feel it 5. Denise LaSalle - A love reputation 6. Little Jimmy Ray - You need to fall in love 7. The Marvelows - Your little sister 8. Darrow Fletcher - The pain gets a little deeper 9. The Kinks - All day and all of the night 10. The Woolies - Who do you love 11. Richard Wylie - Money 12. Johnny and The Hurricanes - Sheba 13. H.B. Barnum - Calypso blues 14. LeRoy Horne - Don't come back 15. Sugar Pie DeSanto - Slip-in mules 16. Marion Black - Who knows 17. Gino Washington - Like my baby 18. Ike & Tina Turner - Contact high 19. Sonny Boy Williamson - Help me 20. The Three-of-us Trio - Telegram 21. Nancy Adams - Somebody's in my orchard Enjoy!

What's Up With French Record Buyers?

The Magnetics - Lady In Green
Supply and demand mate. Very few copies around and hundreds of people that wouldn't mind having it in the collection.

What's Up With French Record Buyers?
Oh and don't even get me started about the Germans! Only kidding mate

What's Up With French Record Buyers?
As I said earlier there's more than a few honest and knowledgeable French collectors. I know from experiece that there's a lot of friendly people living in France. I spent many a holiday there and even play football with a team from there whenever I can make it. But as Mr. Thorley points out: When you're selling boogie records all hell will break loose. Unpaid items, pointless questions, 'I haven't received my record' and in general, anything you don't associate with the term 'smooth transaction'.

The Magnetics - Lady In Green
I'd say sniping is a very good idea in 99% of all cases, but with these big records I think it's just a case of who has the biggest pockets. Oh and if anyone doubted the sellers grading system I can say that this guy grades conservatively and whoever wins it will probably be very happy with what he gets.

What's Up With French Record Buyers?
Think I'll just not answer him and vent my irritations on here. From experience I know you don't want to start discussions with guys like this. With all the hours of football on the telly this week I think I've got better things to do in my free time.

What Happens To Record Shops After They Die?
Well you can always put the volume down a notch, so no real drawbacks there On a more serious note: I think the article's very accurate, but I do think it's possible to survive if you're not focusing on one genre. While all shops in my local town were shutting down, an old store reemerged with new owners and they're doing really well selling a wide variety of genres. But... in every genre they're very selective in what they're selling. So I think sticking to one genre isn't really necessary if you're cautious enough.

What's Up With French Record Buyers?
This is really getting out of hand. Over the years I've been having troubles with both buyers and sellers from France, but even when you stop dealing with them they still find ways to irritate. This very friendly message dropped in my inbox today: 'hi can u change and call it just soul and not modern soul you make me waste a lot of time because i search modern soul and not soul music' This was a question about a copy of Rufus and Roots. It's not that inaccurate to call it modern soul is it? And what's up with that last part of the sentence. I only collect modern, but not soul music? How can you not collect soul if you're collecting modern soul? I want to conclude by saying sorry to all bonafide French buyers and sellers. There's some very friendly and knowledgeable collectors in France, but somehow I mainly seem to attract less pleasant people to deal with. And as a lot of sellers have stopped shipping to France I have the feeling the problem is pretty widespread. Any similar experiences from you guys?

Finishing Prices On Ugly Records
Well I guess sometimes people just want a (playable) copy of a record and see these bad label copies as a chance to acquire these records cheap. For example the Frankie Beverly and The Butlers 45 that was mentioned in the original thread was won by me. The label looks ugly (you should see the flipside label, that's even worse), but the record plays well and I was happy to get the record for a lot less than what I would've paid for if the label would've looked excellent. As a collector I also prefer the copies with mint labels, but as a DJ for me it's what's in the grooves that counts.

Ebay Dropping Free Postage Scam
I heard somewhere that there's a website called soul-source on which soul 45s can be sold without any charge...

Value And Label Scan Request
I'd say something around the £1000 mark, maybe a bit less.

I get mine from Germany at protected.de and always been very pleased. I'm sure the same boxes can be found somewhere in the UK too though...

Listening To Lyrics
Never knew it was a girl singing! Always thought the singer was male and was trying to convince a lesbian girl to become heterosexual (In retrospect I guess I should've known better...)
