  1. Have we had the 'Elgins - Don't Wait Around' yet? I've probably missed some posts. Great tune that one Ian!
  2. It's strange because there was that 45 (well, without the sunken rim around the perforated middle section which is how you tell it's an RCA copy) on ebay a few days back for a starting price of £40 (mint-ish) and no one touched it????? It was listed under RnB instead of Northern, wonder if that makes a difference? With 3 days still to go on the Frenchies it's gonna go for a bit. Wish I'd bought the £40 and stuck it on ebay with some speel (1965 etc)
  3. Even (the not so mighty anymore) Spurs beat them in 2 cup finals!!!
  4. ....!!!!! just hearing 'How Can I Forget' (instr) in my head and picturing Joe Pesci on guitar..... Talk about the STRANGE WORLD OF NORTHERN SOUL! (ok, ok, someone's gonna say he never played on that track....but I can still see him!!!!!)
  5. Seen the Al Gardner with picture sleeve from anything between £40/60....but that was a year ago!
  6. Rick, Robin & Him - 'Cause You Know Me' (V.I.P) bet 'Him' was right pissed off!
  7. That statement sums it all up! 100%!
  8. Sounds f***ing awesome played out loud! Love it to bits!

Nice record, it's a soul/r&b tune. Similar to 'I Don't Want To Cry' by Chuck Jackson (and others). Getting played at the Mod venues I hear. By the way Dukester, even if I had a spare I wouldn't sell it to you cos' of your disrepectful comments about my team!! (only joking mate)
  10. By the way Mischief, off subject a bit, are they still saying that Bromley is is Kent? A mate of mine reckons its South London now!!! Or do I need an early night???!!!
  11. Think he means if the original is say, £800, then obviously £300 is nearer to a £20 boot!!!
  12. From 'The Northern Soul Of Dore' (NOMCD 001)
  13. Wow! You been in there yet?
  14. I like it, but then I'm a sucker for those blue-eyed group sounds! The intro is great and it would have definitely been better if they used the same piece halfway through.
  15. Original of Enchantments is on Faro, the Joker 45 came with a couple of other tracks and is a boot. Mind, think it's got Peanut Duck on the flip so worth having as that was never released any other way. John
  16. It must be bad, I once heard it played on 'Neighbours'....!!!!

Flip (of the UK Trojan one) is a nice version of Fontella Bass' Leave It In The hands Of Love.
  18. mmm, that's interesting Pete, I have a copy of Chase 6000 'MIKE & THE JOKERS - There's Got To Be A Girl' uptempo Northern (almost definitely blue-eyed).....got it from the States a few years back, it's in Manship's guide for £75.....obviously the same group as your one but Mike has dropped his surname... have to say, your one isn't listed at all...
  19. Keep the Ronjerdon copy. Great flip too!
  20. Sure I read somewhere that 'Sweet Sherry' from the Volt/Stax l.p is the first take and differs slightly from the UK Contempo 45. Anyone confirm this? Also, don't forget J.J's 'To An Early Grave' on contempo, nice mid-tempo.
  21. Bob Marshall & the Crystals 'You Got Me Crying'...the best release by them and it's a B side!!! I've been after a copy for a while now, seen the other 2 on L-Rev a few times but this one's eluding me! good luck.
  22. But he claims his father WAS the LEAD SINGER!
