this was a hit in chicago which explains why there's a lot of beat up copies, but i've also seen clean ones, it's not one that's so rare that only the beat up copies exist

I'm pretty sure the record has to be spotless. it comes with (or at least used to come with) a VPI. A physical needle can push through dirt, a laser can't. I doubt it handles warped or off center records.

you were on a record trip with rich rosen? just thinking about that gives me anxiety. dean from cultures of sound is legit, he licenses everything and pays mechanicals (which a surprising number of tiny reissue labels don't do).

I think with lots like this it's sort of random whether they go high or low, given that a specific type of person bids on it., Specifically, a person who isn't that serious a collector but gets excited to see a bunch of good 45s at once. That type of person usually isn't a serious ebayer either. It's not like when you auction a specific record that more serious collectors are after and that has a known price. Auctions like this are more volatile and depend on who's looking and has money at the time.

every time i find this record it's on black beauty (which I think is the first label) and it's cracked for some reason. The mod-art press is rarer in my experience but I think it's the second label.

i actually took my scanner somewhere today and now i can't get it to work. i will try to take a picture with my phone if I can. thanks.
