Thanks for your nice comments. The A-1 group is probably from Philadelphia, maybe New Jersey, I have a random photo of them somewhere but no info. The listening post record is definitely New Orleans. Also, the listening post record is '78 and the A-1 record is early 70s so they're probably also unrelated. in my experience the listening post record is harder to find, i've only seen it a few times and recently got a beat up copy on ebay.

dogs reissue has a different flip. the labels on "soul step" look almost identical though.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm not trying to kill the mold (I assume it's long dead), just trying to remove the residue. I wouldn't be willing to use the bleach though because it would affect the rest of the label and anything under the mildew. Thanks a lot.

Has anyone ever managed to clean ugly mildew spotting on record labels (without damaging the label of course!). I've tried cleaning them with ispropyl alcohol but it doesn't remove that much of the mildew and just sort of smears it around. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I would agree that the demand / price is less than it was 5 years ago. I sit around watching ebay all day.

maybe you are looking on ebay UK or something because it rarely comes on the US site. I'd imagine it is more common on the UK site because most of the copies are in the UK. A few were up this year but I waited years for it come up before I got my copy in like 2004 or 2005. Sometimes some rare records come up a bunch of times and then disappear for years.

I really don't think this is "quite common", it rarely is on ebay at least.

I actually like this record a lot, even though it is doowoppy. I have a cool pic of the group somewhere, they have huge afros.

the records you list have mostly been bootlegged. there is only real value if you have originals. If you think at least some are originals you should invest in manship's price guide which will help you determine which ones are original. it will also give you an approximation of price. the melvin davis is worth a lot of money as original for example.

chalky, I don't think there is a millage label out of chicago, what records are you thinking of. didn't someone from the four reputations actually post here a while back? maybe someone from the band or something?

it's fine if you want to sell me one for 3 pounds or just for less than the manship auction price. my comment was a real comment, i need the record and i will buy it.

ebay prices have been very high the last couple of months. no usual summer dip from european vacations and even under-the-radar lesser known stuff (which is what I always have my eye on) has been going high

So you can photocopy and give away every page of a book except one and it's legal? The law is also complicated regarding sound clips on CD and it's often also not legal. Is there a specific copyright law you're referring to that says what you are saying?
