A Few Sales For A Sunday Afternoon
I believe you, I was just pointing that out that it's rarer. I think it has to be rarer than the black vinyl as I have that and have seen that a few times.

A Few Sales For A Sunday Afternoon
I never knew that bobby brinkley and the squires record came out on colored vinyl

Soul Generation On Tru-Ba-Dor
it doesn't turn up much but it never goes for much either. that is the only record i've seen on that label but i'm not an expert on detroit labels so i guess there could be another one.

Surreal Dj Requests
last week on my radio show someone requested Benny Mardones - into the night. beat that for stupid requests...

Drifters "i Need You Now"
I always thought this was a great funky uptempo record with a really weird edge to it (they intentionally do dischordant harmony at some points). Also, produced by Lou Courtney. I've never seen any reference / discussion of it here or anywhere for that matter. Is this a "known" northern record? What are peoples opinions of it?

Chicago Record Store Help
the beverlys employee you are referring to was sadly murdered in 2007, very sad and bizarre incident
-
Chicago Record Store Help
you're thinking of pizzeria uno, also a famous chicago pizza place
-
Chicago Record Store Help
it is true that some giordanos are worse than other ones and it is also a big chain in chicago. their pizza is what i consider the most stereotypical "chicago style" pizza though.

Supurbs - Only For Lovers - Alteen
I have the Robert Taylor and two different Drake and the Ensolids. Drake and the Ensolids are from Morgan Park (southwest Chicago neighborhood near Beverly). I'm not sure about Robert Taylor as apparently there were like 3 different Robert Taylors recording in Chicago and Milwaukee. Thanks. I'm pretty sure the grey supurbs is not a boot. Thanks.

Supurbs - Only For Lovers - Alteen
Hi Robb. I have not interviewed Marshall Thompson or the Supurbs, sorry. I did interview the Voices who are the girl singers on all the Al-Teen records. Other records on the label include Johnny McCall and Earl Duff. Winner (the label elvin spencer was on) is also the same label as Al-Teen. In Chicago I see the superbs most commonly on the gold label, blue is the rarest in my experience.

Rarest Record
there are probably hundreds of 1-off records around, "rarest" doesn't mean that much. "most valuable" means more given established market values on some ultra-rarities

Chicago Record Store Help
what is up with brits and leonas, that place is disgusting with shitty service and like 10 locations. you're the second person to post that here. for good chicago style pizza go to lou malnatis or giordanos. there are also some good upscale type pizza places in the city. unfortunately i can't recommend any record stores, don't really spend any time going to any stores anymore. the most likely one to get soul 45s at is record dugout on 63rd. that new direction lp isn't common but it isn't really anything.

you should lock this thread, this is identical to the "guilty pleasures" thread

Hopkins Bros - Shake Sherri
it looks and sounds like it to me. what 60s records even have that font?

Looking For Soul Songs About Having A Baby
I'm a sweet soul fan too. Unfortunately there's almost no tracks about having a baby. That masqueraders track is the closest I can think of. If you want a bazillion tracks with "baby" in the title in reference to someone's girl, let me know.

Brenton Wood On Som/maior
for what it's worth I was impressed by what you dug up ... I read the original post as a "is this random record I found worth a million dollars?" type post. Anyone genuinely interested probably would have googled to at least find out who Brenton Wood was and known that this was a hit.

Hopkins Bros - Shake Sherri
Robb, I'm pretty sure there were no other Hopkins 45s. Maybe you are thinking of the Harrison Brothers. The Hopkins Brothers on Magnetic are from New Haven, CT and are exactly the same group as the doowop group the Chestnuts on Davis ... it also happens to include Sylvester Hopkins of the Five Satins. The record is from 1971. The group members don't have any copies and aren't even interested in licensing. Some of the members also sang in later versions of the Five Satins.

Sitting In The Park 8-21-2011
the intentions record is pretty rare, a-side is an in demand group funk title. the band on the record is the pharoahs. the intentions were the rival group of the siberians and members of both groups were later in the new testament band.

Hbr - (Label Of The Week)
it's a pretty generic name, and there are lots of cases of same named groups in the same city or adjacent cities. for example, there was an enchanters in chicago, gary, and milwaukee. there was a traits in chicago and gary. etc.

Looking For Soul Songs About Having A Baby
there's literally hundreds of soul tracks (maybe even thousands) with 'baby' in the title. are people really trying to list every one? I did a search for 'baby' on my radio show playlist page and found 114 titles. more relevant would be songs about babies or children

Prelude Label
I think this is a different prelude label than the one the original poster was talking about. There are many releases on this later prelude label.
