  1. Martyn There is a bit of a theme emerging! But, old man, don't worry, we'll look after you - and your old lady! LOL Peter
  2. Keeping with the 70's and a groover which oozes sould from every groove. The wonderful Mr Tyrone Edwards - Can't Get Enough of Your Love Lets be having yer! Class. Peter
  3. LP track from me to kick things off with - it's on a 45 too but I don't have that. Archie Bell and the Dells - Old People. Nice lryics. Peter
  4. No problem mate. We all have different tastes.
  5. Found this on tinternet. First played by Ian Levine at the Mecca as a US album track, it was almost tailor-made for the then newly opened Wigan Casino allnighter and rapidly became the No.1 instrumental in the country. (Naturally it was bootlegged not long afterwards!) UK Warner Bros. eventually released it c/w "Bubblegum Breakthrough", a previous Mike Post 45 that had been moderately popular in various Northern Soul clubs in 1973. Always thought it a horrible thing which has nothing to do with soul music.
  6. Beaten by my dirty box too Paul! You really must try harder. So why does that Ted Ford sound so familiar - do you know if it was a mainstream record? Peter
  7. Martyn I reckon that would be about right - a long time ago anyway. For some reason it is really famliar to me - but I've never played it at home for years. Was this a main stream tune? Peter
  8. Swifty Now you've edited "donna" into "gonna" I am a little clearer about your intentions! Peter
  9. Right, I better not be greedy - ought to make this the last one from me. Earl Connelly Make Up Your Mind. Bit of a Mecca classic apparently - before my time. However, I could see this getting some current plays. Peter
  10. You wouldn't really want it mate - it's only a coloured issue. Not like the nice demo you posted up. Peter
  11. That made me smile mate. Got a nice Johnny Dean record "I've got a feeling that we'll be seeing each other again" it's a cover of the Al Wilson record. It's a stunner from 1984 produced by Willie Mitchell. There's no clip on tinternet - anyone know it and or have a clip. Pat Brady gave this a few spins as a new release. Cheers Peter
  12. Yeah, but Barry know's how to post a fecking sound clip! Peter
  13. Sort of off topic but just pulled another out the box - I won't post it up cos I don't particularly like it. Ted Ford You're Gonna Need Me - just played the flip Give Me One More Chance - which ain't a bad ballad. Anyway it's in a nice old, coloured paper RCA sleeve with a "Mecolico" sticker stuck which says: Specially Imported By Soul Bowl 5p Under licence from MCPS on payment of the precsribed royalty to the British Copyright owners. Not of huge interest but a little bit of nostalgia. Peter
  14. Some nice group harmonies on this mid tempo piece of soul music. Not sure if it was a huge record in terms of plays - I like it and it's cheap. The Intrigues - I'm Gonna Love You Peter
  15. Another from the dirty box - not had this out for years. A decent enough dancer with some nice vocals - also very cheap I suspect. Ecstasy, Passion and Pain - Ask Me Peter
  16. Don't know this Steve. You're correct it's a stonking piece of soul music. Nice one buddy. Peter
  17. Not on mywhite demo Steve - it has the same title both sides. Never played the other side - I presume its the same. Peter
  18. I was only on about that Gia Mateo the other day Phil - posted it up on here in another thread. Great record from back in the day - someone should but that quick. Peter
  19. Good thread on here about that Swifty. In the end it was nailed - wasn't it that ginger bloke from Scotland? Peter
