  1. just a small point, been to a few as we all say up front , music, something a little different, and I have asked some people there, did you enjoy your self, reply being, well it was OK, but we did not know the music!!!!!!! and I can see they ain't gonna come back, why cant some punters just give a great venue, more than one visit, instead of then going back to the sane old, it baffles me! they seem afraid to give the rarer or underplayed stuff a go?
  2. The way I see it, years ago this scene was underground, if you said you where into ns, nobody really new what you meant, now its very commercial, so that opens many doors for people of all ages and backgrounds, music tastes etc, to go to venues, mostly oldies venues, and there are too many of them, thats where I see the overkill, so some promoters will play safe to make ends meet, and stick to oldies, we all bang on about wanting underplayed stuff , rare ect, so why arnt we supporting these venues, because I think we are in the minority, harsh I know, I think, IMHO, that 60% like oldies and the other40% like other stuff, and thats why they are not filling the venue up!I find it difficult to get to the places i want to get to, sometimes to far, sometimes, just to tired ect, and tend to stick to the ones that I know we will enjoy, music wise, a few years ago, we ran a venue for rarer stuff and underplayed, and could not get the punters in, yes, its the same old story, so where do we go from here!
  3. DID YOU SEE THE VIDEO, OF THE 4 TOPS, ON YOU TUBE, WOODY WAS DEEPLY UPSET, THE WHEELCHAIR, REALLY SAD, NEVER BE A GROUP LIKE THEM AGAIN IN MY LIFETIME.HE SAID TO ME, DONT WATCH IT,IT WILL UPSET YOU.I DONT KNOW IF ANYONE COULD FIND IT AND PUT IT UP ON HERE!
  4. OH MAGGIE, YOU ARE SUCH A TRUE SOULIE, AND YOU KNOW IT, YOU ARE MORE OF A SOULIE THAN SOME PEOPLE ON HERE! WEEKENDER'S, GERMANY, ITALY, LISTENING TO DAVE'S TUNES ON YOUR MP3 WHEN AT WORK, COMING OUT WITH US, BEING A TRUE SOUL FRIEND!NITERS , SOUL NITES, ETC ETC ECT.....WIGAN IS NOT THE BE ALL AND END ALL OF NORTHERN SOUL, THERE WHERE A LOT OF OTHER PLACES TO GO ASWELL, SOMETIMES, SOME PEOPLE THINK THAT BECAUSE THEY WENT ONLY 1 TIME TO WIGAN, JUST TO INVESTIGATE, BECAUSE EVERY BODY ELSE WAS, THAT MAKES THEM SOME KIND OF IMPORTANT SOUL PERSON, GET A LIFE,YES WIGAN WAS FANTASTIC IN ITS HEYDAY, MANY YEARS AGO, SO WAS THE CATACOMBS, SO WAS BLACKPOOL MECCA, SO WAS, HANLEY STOKE ON TRENT, SO WAS, WHITCHURCH, WOT ABOUT THE TORCH, MISSED THAT ONE, I NEVER WENT THERE, WOODY DID, I COULD GO ON AND ON, ARE YOU A SOULIE, OH YES, AND A PRETTY DECENT ONE AT THAT, YOU AIN'T GOT NO AXE TO GRIND, I SUPPOSE YOU ARE NOT AS QUIET AS YOU USED TO BE, THATS BECAUSE, I AM A BAD INFLUENCE ON YOU, AND IN MY BOOK, WHO ELSE WOULD LET THERE HUBBY TAKE OVER THEIR FRONT ROOM AS AN ICON TO NORTHERN SOUL.LETS FACE IT IF YOU HAVE BEEN MARRIED TO DAVE RIMMER FOR 25 YEARS, IF THAT DONT MAKE YOU A SOULIE, NOTHIN WILL!

  9. have to echo john parker, that was awesome, also when I think back, and it is hard, Tim brown at Sheridan's, ages and ages ago, I remember thinking, it cant get any better then this, Kieth money and Kenny burell at lots of places, I know butch cant be beaten in woody eyes, and that play list from pottsy? above, bloody eck, some tunes in there mate, it could go on and on!still ontop for me is hunt&watts though.
  10. there has been some great tracks listed on this thread, real soulful tunes, ray pollard seems to have come out on top, thanx for replying, it gives us all something to think a-bout, it aint always about banging 60T,s stompers
  11. I have the clap I love clapping, its a way of expressing your feeling for a tune, I cant help my self, I even clap at home by my self, more power to the clap I say, and when a DJ, gets unanimous round of clapping it dont half help them feel bloody good!years ago, every single person clapped, not so much these days, perhaps people think they look daft, personally I always look daft, and have been known to be the only person in a room clapping
  12. disgraceful, will keep our eyes open, good god, sometimes this scene is full of fooking A-soles!pity we cant flush them out and pull the chain!
  13. lets keep em coming, thats what its all about!
  14. thats why ray pollard has an effect on woody, when dave rimmer played it at sleepless nites, the poor bloke was gutted with emotion.
  15. and thats how I got my bad knee, so mark bicknell can pay for my physio!!
  16. Couple of threads going about stuff that picks you up, stuff that gets you down etc, so I thought that I would start one about records that really tug at your heart strings , might have been done before I not sure, anyway to start heres mine. MARVIN GAYE. COME TO THIS. really gets to me, you can feel his passion in his words.it really moves me. RAY POLLARD. THE DRIFTER. this makes my hubby really tearful for private reasons.
  17. hard to say about years gone by,too many to remember, but recent sets that will stick in my mind are john manship and mark bicknell at silks not that long ago..pure brilliance... but for me and in my honest opinion nobody will ever beat George hunt and Dickie watts, double decking, they bounce off each other, and the stuff they play is out of this fooking world, you cannot catch your breath ! IMHO
  18. having a kiss and cuddle off the old man and holding his hand, I know its daft, but we really do love each other to bits, even though he,s gotten fatter and balder watching your kids make a good life for them selves, and going in the front room, putting a record on the turntable, at full blast, and dancing round the room, and saying to your self, god that was great!I love that tune, and the neighbors thinking I am potty!!
  19. WHERE DO YOU START, SO MANY B SIDES ARE THE MAIN TUNE, TO THE FACT THAT WE THINK ITS THE A SIDE, AND WHAT ABOUT DOULBLE SIDES, WHICH ONE TO PLAY, OR JUST PLAY BOTH, COULD BE A LONG THREAD.
