Bottom of "All about the soul" page and just beneath the box showing the names of the members viewing that part of the forum, there are various criteria boxes to work through. Open the "Order" box and it will give the option for looking at "Order: replies", "Order: views" etc.

For those who are partial to a bit of trivia, this topic will break the SS "All about the Soul" World Record if it exceeds 749 posts and 23655 views. Record is currently held by "Soul night disgrace" from January of this year. Come on boys and girls, you can do it
  3. Just listened to Esther Phillips "Cry to me", courtesy of Jocko and as I am not overfamiliar with her work, did not appreciate that Sam Dees is involved. Although you might not strictly call this track a duet - as Jock says "he (Sam Dees) loves to join in" - it got me thinking what fantasy duets would have worked. Who would have duetted with, say, Linda Jones or Walter Jackson to produce a "dream team" or would this just simply not have worked? And not just duets, female and male, what about group members collaborating. What do you think?
  4. Bob, I've heard their version along with Soupy Sales, but not the other two. Just the Jonah Jones version needed now, which appears to be the earliest recording.
  5. Just listened to the magnificent version by the Originals and realised I've never heard the versions by Jonah Jones and Joe Harnell. Anybody out there that can post clips of these versions? Ta much.
  6. One on e-bay last year for $99 if thats any help.
  7. I heard it Pete, and you're right I've heard worse. It's from 1966 and is called "Ten guitars". Tom Jones amongst others have also recorded it.
  8. So it's not a "stomper", so what! To these ears it's got an ideal tempo and one that I would gladly get on the floor to. Excellent record
  9. So, not uncommon then, this practice?
  10. Is this known and if so what's it all about then?
  11. You're right Chalky, Soul Club doesn't compare in terms of information etc and it's more than likely that the majority of the tracks on Soul Club are fetaurd in refosoul. However aren't a lot of the earlier posted tracks now clipped? I want to access Soul Club to start again on having the tracks on my PC having just lost approximately 8000 tracks when my old hard drive was replaced. The IT guys couldn't reboot the old drive because it was full and they can't find a way to do so, in order to then try and copy the tracks onto the new drive. Soul Club was an easy option, but if it's not available I'll just have to persevere with what is available elsewhere.
  12. Last one through e-bay in November 2006 reached $322.
  13. JM has currently got listed : Antellects - "Love slave" Patrice Holloway - "(He is) the boy of my dreams" Natural Impulse - "She went away" Trent Sisters - "A letter a day" Phew! Any guesses on final prices for these babies? Top price or credit crunch affected? These at the same time as the previously mentioned Cashmeres and Tommy & the Derbys. Some serious gelt is going to change hands over the next few weeks, methinks.
  14. Yes, of course, Ken. Should have checked the details.
  15. Popsike shows the last one in October 2007 at $57.
  16. Official B side is "Baby dont'cha worry" - so mispress?
  17. Los Angeles is per R & B Indies.
  18. Dumas 1205 and 1209 are unknown.
  19. Appears to be a Los Angeles lable. One other track by Willie Que - "Don't wait until tomorrow/There's something wrong with you"
  20. One of the greatest LP's ever made in my very humble opinion.
  21. R & B Indies has the David Morris Plush label as a Philadelphia label, but little other info.
  22. R & B Indies shows the Rampart release date as 1968.
  23. Does anybody remember a smallish (aren't they all) lad from Burnley (I think) called Glen (I think) who used to dance in front of the DJ decks/stage at the Mecca c.1973/4. On previous discussions his name never crops up, unless that is he's not called Glen Anyhow whatever he's called he was awesome.
  24. Really looking forward to hearing this, Bob. 6 years in, keep up the great work.
  25. Ok, nothing earth shattering and probably been done many times before, but..... Shit day at work, need something to lift the spirits, look at the sounds and think "that will do" - Robert John - "Raindrops, love and sunshine" followed by, We The People - "Making my daydream real" All of a sudden the world seems a better place. What does it for you?
