  1. Top stuff Sebastian, especially the Originals, but the Devotions is a great track. Interesting one by the Swan Silvertones, where did you find that one?
  2. Don't know about this record, Pete, but anybody who records "Meet me with your black drawers on " and "Don't boogie with your black drawers off " has got to be an interesting fellow!!
  3. Probably been put up before, however just finished watching the back end of the programme today and searched the listings to see if it's repeated, as is often the case on these type of channels. It's on again on the Artsworld Sky channel at 12.00pm on Tuesday 6th February.
  4. Thought it was rather good myself. Good to see footage of Gino, Temps etc. Thought Eric Burdon came across rather well, even if some think he is "devoid of soul".
  5. Thanks, Dave
  6. Am curious to know who is credited with discovering/first playing of "I'm gonna make you love me ". Momentous piece of Northern!
  7. Couple of the Major Lance singles secured $100 back in 2005, described as being VG+ or VG++.
  8. I'd go along with that, Tone. Lush orchestral arrangements by the likes of Johnny Franz and Reg Guest tended to hide his singing weaknesses, exposed in my opinion on the ludicrous "Jackie". Remembered more for the songs than than the singing.

Can't see any obvious difference to the scan that is in JM's Million Dollars of Rare Soul, Andy.
  10. Yeah, got it now - not the same track, but on the flip of the Delite one. Confused of Bolton.
  11. Definitely behind, Helm, Manual and Danko in the singing class - interesting about the writing credits, though. It's mostly Robertson on the tracks and its difficult to imagine that the other band members, who were so multi talented didn't contribute to the songwriting. Undoubtedly one of the most influential groups in history.
  12. Connection to the Carstairs is presumably confirmed as I understand that "Keep away " by the Appointments is supposedly the same track as " I saw you there" and that it came out on Redd Coach.
  13. Definitely covered up as Ed Crook.
  14. Robbie Robertson is, in my opinion, one of the greatest songwriters that has ever lived - I don't think there is a single track penned by him that I do not like.
  15. You bet! Anybody who has heard the Nine Inch Nails song "Hurt" by Johhny Cash would surely believe that it is soulful. Also "The unfaithful servant" by The Band would do it for me everytime.
  16. Lots of info at Dave Flynn's site. Try www.capitalsoulclub.homestead.com/DetroitRelatedLabels.html plus there are pages on local and national releases, which is not just for Detroit stuff.

Fantastic stuff, Pete - it's been a real pleasure listening to this today, and yes, I hope there's a few converts as a result of your efforts, and those of the other posters.
  18. A VG++ went for $228 last year on e-bay. Other copies had reached higher values in 2005
  19. The Marta Acuna track has appeared frequently on e-bay achieving upto $356.
  20. £200 for Chi-lites, £50 for Alcon Shades
  21. Latest sales per popsike are $216 for Chuck Ray and $285 for Vanguards.
  22. Per JM a ton for Chuck Ray and £300 for Vanguards
  23. Is she the daughter of Jackie Wilson - he definitely had a daughter called Jacqueline, who song with her sister and was apparently murdered in the 80's

Sorry Kev, clue in the topic "Top Texas Soul" gives it away! OK then is it from Austin?
