  1. My lack of knowledge of 60s pop has let me down again
  2. PS Is it any more of a great Northern Soul record than Petula Clark Down Town ?
  3. I'll say it again Pete I like the record I have a copy on Casino Classics. I also have the complete recordings of the Smiths it doesn't mean I want to hear them when I go out to a Northern Soul do. Nor do I have any problem with white vocals some can be more soulful than certain black vocals. I'm just against out & out white pop records being played on what is/was predominately a soul scene. I also have no wish to hear for example Right Track when I go out, not because it's a bad record (or a white vocal) I'm just totally absolutely sick of it just as I was 30 years ago!!!!!! End of the day it's each to their own & as i said it's extremely unlikely I'll ever hear it in a club that I've made the decision to go so I don't have to much to worry about...............unless somebody played it to annoy me
  4. Slow version fast version ? I've got the original version bought as new US release (75ish?) what are these other releases then 80s remmix or somfink or did i just miss something at the time
  5. A Northern Soul record? well it got played at Wigan for sure (amongst other venues) as did Joe 90 Tony Blackburn Muriel Day Tim Tam etc etc etc would you like to hear them in the nostalgia spot? The majority of records played these days are nostalgia, the trick is to try & pull out the good ones that never get heard, lets leave the pop records in the past where they belong. As I said it's a nice record & when played on radio 2 there is a nice touch of nostagia about it, but I certainly wouldn't want to hear it at any venue that I go to nor am i likely to thank goodness
  6. It's another version of the Little Ben & the Cheers song on the same label, both versions Ok
  7. If any was needed that is the perfect confirmation that my decision last year to stop attending was the correct one! Jackie Trent is a nice record but why would you want to play it at a "soul event"
  8. Obviously too many people about with too much money & no imagination. Same thing happened with Little Archie. I bought a mint demo couple of years ago for 20quid just before it went mad 50/60/75/100 even saw one at 150. Saw one a couple of weeks ago back down to 30 which is fairly unusual these days as it seems when a record hits that ridiculous high price it then becomes the norm.
  9. Anybody sorted Martin out yet? It's all for a good cause
  10. Well I certainly do but there are those who certainly don't.............or possibly turn up at something like the 100 club anniversary, do their once a year thing & it's goodbye till next year
  11. Don't you know anybody who can give you a couple cds or an mp3 player, it'll be a lot easier

It's a very played out sound again !!! It's latest resurgence was what 4/5 years ago ? Even then it was only going for around 100 RBman (or is that Rob Man?) is correct, I've seen quite a few at 70. Be patient is my advice
