1974. wigan casino. Went with a guy whos on here. Dave Morris. Wed been to blackpool first. I think hed borrowed his parents car, but I cant be sure. Remember being sat on the balcony at the back and listening to Connie Clark. Dave is a year older than me and he knew all the titles from reading Blues and Soul etc. Ann Perry seems to be in the early times as well. Also Jean Carter...." like one". Happy days.

1975. Michaels warehouse in Bolton. Made to measure. 47 inch long. Cost a pound an inch. So £47. I was 5 foot 10 inch with a 33 inch chest. ( too many tabs and the like). The lady who measured me had to doubly check the measurement and wrote down on the paper. 33 inch, very slim and underlined it to make sure. God I thought it was the dogs nads when I picked it up.

Theres a guy who knocks about my local boozers who says he went all over the north west in the 80s. I had dropped off the scene by then, so I never knew him. He says all the right things and mentions all the right names etc. Anyway he reckons hes had a Gene Toones issue. Anyone know him.............Alan Giles is his name.

Yeah. Ive mentioned this before. I use to obtain entrance many a time "over the roof " Myself and some mates from Clitheroe. Pretty dangerous at times but needs must. Plus it was the devilment of just doing it that drove us on. We did it often. Until the bouncers got wise and were waiting for us when we dropped in. Luckily someother soulies jostled them and we got away into the Casino. The bouncers knew we were from Blackburn and Clitheroe and where we usually based ourselves (left hand at the front near to the toilets) so they hung around that area all night. We had to "gatecrash" someone elses area. That didnt go down to well neither. Scary times sometimes in the Casino. Without a doubt

I cant listen to Ike and Tinas River Deep Mountain High without thinking of my best buddy at the time, John Bolton. It was his fave tune ever. He was killed in a car crash coming home one night from Accy British Legion. I miss him still and that was 30 odd years ago.
