  1. Thanks it did sound the same just strange it got released under different names.
  2. I wonder how many collectors who were active from the past in any other eras are still as active now? the one big advantage you would have with a strong collection is the ability to trade and not have to pay the current prices. or is this spike down to new buyers
  3. Larry Allen one of those records that is musically and vocally all over the place but is somehow still a cracking record.
  4. Love this record the vocal version. is it jimmy Fraser singing on the other version or somebody else ? it sounds like him to me. it’s a fantastic stomper.
  5. Has a box of rare soul ever appeared on antiques roadshow ? it’s only a matter of time.
  6. Not that long ago uptights on alley could have featured on this mix and it’s just sold for a grand !!!
  7. With a fantastic flip side which I prefer so it’s two for one here.
  8. With tear stained face on the other side it’s no wonder this hasn’t been played much even though it is great in its own right.
  9. I think a few of these current big spenders must have fallen off a roof or been dropped on their head at birth.
  10. There must be a few people looking at that uptights price with amazement. great double sider but that’s just total madness.
  11. It’s disappointing to hear the classic 1210 has suffered from cost cutting. I’ve not seen one of the new ones yet the old ones are fantastic.
  12. The flip to the red label is also good northern. It’s deep soul on the silver label flip.
  13. In the 2000’s there were definitely more red than silver coming up for sale. They were all M- as well so from some kind of qty of stock. I hardly ever saw a silver one during the same period. I paid 150 for a red label from a U.K. collector who had qty.
  14. I’m still yours with silver label is rare but I thought I cant let go with red label was around in decent qty ? both-versions are good but I’m still yours must be the one to own
  15. This thread and a google search took me to your sale on here only last year. you did very well getting 3 copies. I’ve had a few bargains from tim over the years best one was probably the rare Betty wright “mr lucky” it was always worth a careful look when the lists landed.
  16. Chain of fools going over 1000gbp today on Carolina soul. I had a vg- copy that played well enough after year 2000 for 50 dollars and possibly could have had a couple more. Anybody whose searched hard for records has these stories to tell but these current prices have left me uninterested in trying to find 45s now. It must be almost impossible to find good obscure records cheap now.
  17. Agree you’d get one for half that or less with a little patience. But saying that it is brilliant and compared to other 45s possibly not that crazy a price ? or buy Sean’s reissue if it’s still available ? as a casual observer these are strange times Price wise. Will it last ?
  18. i used to really struggle with this genre or style but have grown to like it more over time. I struggle with some examples still but the good ones can be great. Absolute classic for me
  19. George jackson also deserves a mention. This CD is superb this track is the highlight for me.
  20. It’s hard to know where to begin with bobby there are so many I’ll just put this one up as a personal favourite.
  21. Bobby Womack is another artist where it’s easy to own more LP’s than 45’s an obvious choice but a great artist to delve into his work.
  22. Same here it was a couple of years after buckethesds. We didn’t have the internet then to provide us with all the answers.
  23. I didn’t know the street sounds track until after bucketheads those house samples started me looking back for the originals.
  24. That’s Randy browns best LP but all his others contain great tracks check out the Malaco label for some great 70s southern soul there are lots of compilations
