this is exactly my view on it as well. I won't hold onto something just for fear of loosing some $$ if i've made on others it all comes out right in the end.
  2. in spite of the soul clip being very short and very missable it was a good programme I enjoyed watching it.

doing it full time as your "proper" income would take a hell of a lot of time and effort backed with a huge amount of knowledge but could be possible. more casually to help support your own record buying should be easier.

you can buy of ebay sell on here for a profit and still undercut dealers if you have got the time and effort required to do it.
  5. oh please don't make me have to go listen to it again. the flute is still rattling round my head from last time. now if there were an unissued take without the flute then I might be interested.
  6. I can do this for SOLD delivered.
  7. brief encounter "human / total satisfaction" sound plus WD vg+ plays great after some light crackle on intro. SOLD by PM please if interested regards, dylan
  8. must admit I didn't notice it was a vg copy.....
  9. keep trying with this one but I can't get past that annoying flute.
  10. some of the prices i'm seeing thing sell for on ebay now compared to 5 to 10 years ago this has already started........... richard marks on free spirit a couple have just sold way under what I thought they were worth.

this is all true but when you hear and get blown away by a record you still have a chance to dig around for info before making a purchase. certainly before spending big $$ anyway.

the japanese have been collecting soul just as long as we have. some of the best collections are in japan. its nothing new.
  13. the bobby barnes on poormans is an excellant version of jacquline jones with an equally good flip side. don't think i've come across any of the others yet..........
  14. such a shame records like this can go unsold with no bids its fantastic. https://www.ebay.com/itm/190685266335?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
  15. well you've proved perfectly how a well known artists potentially rare record can still sell for $10 with only 1 bid. thats a good thing IMO and sets the example any new collectors should follow.
  16. I don't think the deep soul flip is good enough to warrant that kind of price tag even for the most ardent deep soul fan. its OK but no where near a holy grail in terms of the sound.

keele was my first all-nigheter venue that got me into this scene. I missed what were probably the best years but still had some good times there. It was all new to me at the time so the oldies and any more recent plays just all blended into one.
  18. Never went out of style at my house. Well at least some of them anyway. only yesterday gave jackie montre el "doomed by jealousy" a spin. also looking forward to the return into fashion of mid tempo as well.
  19. thats interesting regarding sound plus being reissues I always assumed they were boots. I ended up with a couple of sam bakers and a jimmy church all that should have been on SS7 and filed them away in the bootleg box.
  20. I will continue to try and find the good rare records that go unwanted or have a lack of interest buts its not easy. one thing about this game i've found is that a logical analysis of things is just a waste of time.
  21. if I ever get to be super wealthy I would probably be happy to spend over the odds fro those great but not always rare records that floated my boat. as thats unlikely to happen i'll continue to buy a few bits here and there on ebay. bob its unlikely people will have everythgin except the ultra rarities as its a bottomless pit of 45s. I'm happy now juts buying cheap things I don't already know. I don;t realy chase rarities anymore unless they are under market value.
  22. more reading on Johns site regarding Mr Tears (Paris) https://www.sirshambling.com/artists_2012/T/mr_tears/index.php and he wrote a robbie williams song
  23. fully looking forward to a full weekend of partying then a virus knocked me off my feet. but not before the do in petebrough on friday night. 1st visit decent little venue and good playlists from all DJs gary spencer and kev draper and mr fortnum played the best spots for me. the "grab it grab it" record 1st time i've heard that a what a great uptempo 60s along with the version of "respect" also fabtastic. after that I managed a pub lunch yestreday and that was it back to work...... ho hum.

with 2 days to go the current price wouldn't be too much of a suprise. I don't know if this is real or not but I wouldn't let the price put me off.
