Started warching series 1 last night. It's got me hooked. Builds the atmosphere and great acting I think.
  2. Prisca has a photo of a book page, or liner notes possibly?*, on her Facebook account that describes the recording of her first single in some depth. In the narrative it states Prisca was 18 at the time of recording. It also states that Dennis Gilmore (of The Precisions) was Prisca’s older brother. So now I’m confused: was Prisca’s maiden name Page or Gilmore? It would have to have been Gilmore if Dennis is her brother. At the bottom of the photographed page there is some text that cannot be read as it is covered by emojis but it is possible it says that Page was just a made up recording name? *Kent’s “Birth Of Soul (Special Detroit Edition 1961-64)” maybe??
  3. Here is just about the most recent home page I could find https://web.archive.org/web/20230929100641/http://cosimocode.com/ and when clicking links it seems to show the most recent capture of each page, which is cool!
  4. Yes, thanks! Just found Wayback Machine myself! Will it be there forever I wonder!?
  5. Yes, I was looking at that earlier today. He mentions Peter Hoogers and Annabella. Earlier today I contacted Peter via 45cat message (awaiting reply). I have recently also tried contacting Annabella on another topic but fear she may no longer be around as she went very quiet on 45cat about three years ago (she ran the wonderful "Singing Bones" blog until 2011, sadly missed).
  6. Yes, "The Soul Detective" was Red Kelly, who was the host of the Cosimo Code site. He passed away in July 2022 (coincidentally only a few weeks before his passing I had been in an email conversation with him after not being in contact for a few years).
  7. The Cosimo Code website is no more or is, at least, no longer accessible. I guess the hosting bill has not been paid. Red Kelly (RIP) was doing the hosting but he of course passed away (a couple of years ago now!). Anybody any idea how to resurrect the site? It would be a terrible shame for all that research to be lost. John Ridley, John Broven, Davie Gordon, Peter Gibbons, anyone?
  8. Syl Johnson - Annie Got Hot Pants Power , Little Sally Walker Ohio Players - Varee Is Love , Little Lady Maria
  9. Mary Jane probably the weed, not his lady 🙃
  10. Yes, understand that could be a possibility.
  11. This is a Summit Distributors list (Chicago area) dated 7th February 1969. It has Love You Baby listed in the "Up And Coming" section. This would tend to confirm a release date of Jan/Feb 1969.
  12. A few that haven't been mentioned as far as I can tell: Rhetta Hughes - Relight My Fire Lovelites - With Love From... Tower Of Power - Back To Oakland
  13. Tony Clarke - Joyce Elaine Once his wife, who, in 1971, apparently shot him dead as an act of self defence. He was already tortured by her when he recorded this by the sound of it).
  14. What is Gilly's book called?

  16. I'm sure people on here will know but can't find any mention of it - Bob Mays passed away December 2020. A very brief obituary, with a few heartfelt comments can be found here: https://www.legacy.com/us/obituaries/freep/name/robert-mays-obituary?id=7340098
  17. Either of these books ever been published? Or at least still ongoing projects?

  19. Re Heaven And Earth. Comparing Discogs pic and back cover of their first album their heights seem about right, and change facial hair a bit and I could start to convince myself.
  20. Agree, probably 1974. They are singing covers so probably a newly formed group. Heaven And Earth? First line up. They formed in 1974 and had first single released in 1975.
  21. Anything at all in the dead wax? It is this track presumably? released in 1978 on a UK Burning Sounds LP. track would have been laid down in Jamaica originally I guess. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-3Ysl71yphU Another version appears on a Mixing Lab 7" , but this wouldn't have been released until the 90s, judging by the label design on other Mixing Lab singles: https://www.discogs.com/release/4977063-Leroy-Smart-Its-Impossible Many reggae singles did get US presses/ releases on labels such as Germain. So this could have been a white label from one of them?
  22. There are two releases for this (both released around the same time I think). One has -RE-2 suffix in the matrix, one doesn't. Do you know if they are both the same in playback (ie. tinny)? B side is a great slowie too (and a better balance sonically I reckon).
  23. It's one big grey area. OK, I'm selling some records from my collection, some of which I've had for years ("in the attic" so to speak, so not "trading"), and some of which I have bought for peanuts in local chazza or booter with a view for flipping for profit (effectively "trading"). How on earth is "the man" going to be able to tell the difference. I think article said ebay et al will not have to pass on details if income is under 2000eur. And I can't believe the Government will have the resources to chase people selling close to that. They will go after the more obvious traders (repeat selling the same items regularly) with fairly significant income. He says, hopefully.
