if you bid early, like six or seven days early............... and the record your after comes up for sale on soul source for instance at an affordable price........ what then?
  11. i would think the internet (ebay, private auctions, record sites) and cheap air travel has alot to do with new stuff being found. it was always there, but in america where they probably didn't share our love of what we call ''northern soul''. as the purveys of our scene search for new stuff it is then brought to our attention but as collectors, finding records as become easier via the net, but harder at the same time, as it is accessible for any one to find hidden/lost gems if they put the work in at the computer. and of course fashions change, as said before, quality slower stuff is now getting a chance alan
  12. as anybody had either of the foreign exports yet. with reference to reviews, for me, this has been my favorite swap yet. been a real pleasure, so many thanks to all who contributed, cheers alan
  13. are new/newly discovered tracks still called northern soul, when soul is nationally spread now. if so, was there a time when it ceased to become northern, and just became old/rare soul. is it just a term that we tag on to any thing, we remember that sounds like ''northern'' soul mmmmmm
  14. i don't think its a case of not agreeing, ''so don't post''. debate is good, and theres always two sides to a story, sometimes three, four or five somedays. but, when debates turn to threats and abuse, the line as well and truly been crossed, and should not have to be tolerated by anybody. nobody wants bullies in our society, and certainly not in our down time. sorry rant over alan
  15. which version is on the stateside compilation album? is it the minit version?
  16. for what its worth............................ ''Its a classic example of quality northern soul. '' for sure, certainly right for the time ''A timeless master piece.'' strong words, but, still getting plays, when debatably better have fallen by the wayside, and been forgotten ''Its all hype'' definitely ''& little substance. Wasn't very good in the first place, then it got overplayed.'' i've heard a lot worse alan
  17. The Passions - High jacked Malcolm Dodds - come see the sun Bobby Hebb - Love me maybe doing the rounds already so forgive me if they are if not, play 'em alan
  18. hopefully this is a link...... https://www.mojo4music.com/blog/2008/12/the..._albums_10.html alan

excellent track, i put this on my cd compilation for the last CD swap
  22. i was hoping for a more personal point of veiw but, did it mention anything about soul source debates on there
  23. with all these debates about what does, and dosen't constitute soul music eg, soulful house, nu soul/jazz, ect. Northern soul, at times being one of the biggest contradictions what is soul music? is it the vocal?, or the music?, or both? when is soul not soul? or is it just our own personal interpretation, when it suits the individuals taste? this should liven up a boxing day and no talk of being an ar-soul alan
  24. Trust me, its excellent . if you can buy better (DJ honky's was free, donation to charity appreciated), i've yet to come across one . although, his future epic will give it a run for its money, i'm sure . all the best, and merry christmas alan
  25. i know exactly what ya saying bearsy, i generally listen to older 60's stuff, with a mix of 70's tunes i like. i, unlike yourself, have very little ''soul'' style/type records after this time. the NU soul sound tag intrigued me so i investigated further, and these two tunes, as you say made me sit up and listen having never been a follower of new soul music, i'm sure theres loads of stuff i've never come across, but i'm prepared to have a listen i know i wont like all of it, may be most of it, but i know what i like, and they are the ones i buy the CD swaps have opened my eyes to a lot of things out there, and i dont want to write anything off just yet all the best and merry christmas alan
