  15. can i join your gang ? that'll make 3 of us then. Greg
  16. We all used to be dancers, now most of us are too decrepit so we all want to be Dj's, there aren't enough spots for us so we all open our own venues, and that's the real problem. Amateur Mickey Mouse events, Dj in a box PA systems with a room full of chin scratching wannabe Dj's who have f**k all to offer. Rant over. Phil. Agreed 100%, finally someone has the balls to say it out loud. Hats off to you sir Greg
  17. [Maybe your just a piss head yourself so like any drug addict cant see the wood for the trees Coffee all over the keyboard
  18. The Northern soul crowd in London and beyond will always have venues to attend. There might be many little clubs all around London that are on once in a blue moon but the 100club is the only real 6ts soul nighter and has been for over 20+ years. For many years it has been attended by all kinds of youth culture movements but not like back in the 8ts and 9ts. Them days were very special both for being young and listening to great music and ground breaking records for the first time. The days of cues up oxford street and borrowing memberships to blag in are long gone but all is not lost. Maybe the 100club (Nighter) events should go to club event hours and maybe a friday night if possible or stagger it a bit. People are too f*cked now to attend allnighters in mass numbers but club nights are general very busy. I found that with the Capitol Soul Club, alot of people could go home after 6 hours of music and still have there heads together for the following day. The other thing is the music and the DJ's. When i attended the 100club nighters every month (for many years) there was so many new tunes and again we were all in our early twenties and yeah full of beans and lots of other things . It was exciting and we had the corner by the piano, that was the mod place and especially the London mob. Times have changed and less people are around, less tunes, good intertaining DJ's with sounds to match those fresh tunes of the time bla bla bla. The collecting was also a big thing, lots of record dealers and bargains to be found...nowadays that doesn't really happen. The Dj's like Mick and Butch have done there time and have been fantastic but to be honest i hear the same records when i attend and of course thats the case, cause the new sounds (quality sounds) are not there to be found in mass anymore. Personally the 100club stopped for me when Ian Clark departed though i attended and dj'd for many years after that it was never the same for me. the last time i really was excited was when the RCA stuff turned up and the London mob were still attending in numbers. Allnighters have never really done it for me or many of my London mates since hitting the 40 mark but its not all doom and gloom. I think you just need to tweak a few things and theres a few years left for sure. I must also say thats its a major mistake letting people off the street in, but i do understand that the venue and staff have to be paid and you need the numbers to be made up sometimes. Maybe you should start an over 40/50ts discount . Ok the boss has returned so i'll get back to looking like i'm doing some work. Greg
  19. Interesting but was bound to happen at some stage Ady. I agree with Ken and Bicknall and some others on here. The average age of the scene is now getting on and those people don't attend that much as in the past plus those who do are to set in there ways to change. Even my age group of 40 can't do it regular as Kids/jobs etc. It was different when we were all younger and carefree. I still go the odd time and for me the 100club will always hold a very important part of my life and the people i met there. The thing is its not the same anymore for many people, those days are gone and never to be repeated. The best thing to do is continue until you feel your flogging a dead horse. The numbers aren't there anymore for regular events up and down the country. Maybe it's just a blip but to be honest i think the scene is slowly slowing down. You do a great job and have for many years and i do hope numbers improve coming up to the summer etc. Bloody hell just when i've come back to the odd dj set as well All the breast Greg
  20. If my memory serves me right it's an unissued acetate that might of came via tim brown or soul bowl. I could be wrong but i do remember Keb darge telling me the full story in a pub in camden back in the early 9ts. I got a perfect dub which i like to play in the comfort of my living room now and then for memories sake....tune!!!! Greg
  21. All copies Hiss.. though the one i sold from my collection that was found in a record shop in soho for £50 had very little It was stone mint and only a little bit of hiss, carl fortnum had 2 copies but they hissed and mick smith was the same. It's rare as f*ck and expect to pay £1,500+ for a half decent one. I got mine from capitol Soul DJ (Alan H) after he found it in a basement of a soho record shop. Carl and I then played it out big style everywhere and it took off....tune! Greg
  22. Then get youselfs down to Crossfire (london nighter) in April as i'm djing for the first time in years. Judy Freeman will get a spin as i still have the original test pressings. Regards Greg
