Are The Mods Responsible For The Northern/rare Soul Scene ?
Sorry Phil.... but yes!

Are The Mods Responsible For The Northern/rare Soul Scene ?
When the Casino shut down and Northern "died its death" in many peoples eyes, although Stafford started there was the Hacienda. It took everything from our all nighters but introduced a different music.

Are The Mods Responsible For The Northern/rare Soul Scene ?
Deffo. Many on the Northern scene went on to like the Modern style of Soulful House which re-invented itself into Rave but the culture of staying up all night and using substances continued. Simply a change in music style but no change in nightclub culture.
-
Are The Mods Responsible For The Northern/rare Soul Scene ?
Of course it came from the Mod scene but as House and Rave developed out of our all nighter culture (and music) so did Northern Soul from the Mod culture. Similar music in it's roots, but the culture remains the same.

Your Favourite 100 Club Single
Didn't realise until I'd posted. It was just because it was a current topic

Your Favourite 100 Club Single
Must have listed it on here half a dozen times and it took ages to sell. Steve

Look At Your Box - Literally
Why not have one made by Howard Castle (Castle Hard Cases) in Heckmondwyke. Fully flight cased, aluminium covered, foam lined with latches for padlocks all for about £50 for something that would hold 300 45's. Steve

Too Much Choice?
Mint 1713 posts If a DJ is called a DJ because he plays Discs, is a Laptop player called a Lap Jockey ? ooer ! A DJ is called a DJ because when the term was derived there was no other format. Nowadays many "superstar" DJ's use mp3, CD and SD cards. The role of a DJ is to entertain the crowd, be all, end all. It's because we on this elite scene are anally retentive. Steve (An OVO collector for many years but now so much not on the scene because of the politics)

Too Much Choice?
To be honest, I've given up on it all. Being priced out of the market as a collector, having to endure the same old, same old tunes at many venues and watching the fancy dress crew deny the scene any chance of progression. Personally, I'd say that the digital era may progress the scene but yes, it goes against the ethics. However, if someone said to me they were going to put on a night where you could hear totally new stuff but off a CD or mp3, I may be interested. As far as interest goes and attendance, look at the photo's posted here and just look how many venues are about a third full, if that! Says it all as far as I'm concerned. Steve

- I'm 18, This 'northern' Thing Is Not Mine To Have
I've looked at the first post and the last post prior to my reply here. Aaron I have to say that is the most positive post I have seen in years. Andrea Ko.... where do you go. There are people in fancy dress at every venue! I will have a look at posts in between to see if I've spoken out of turn but realistically, I don't think so. Steve- Lenny Welch " You Picked A Fine Time "
Cant recall ever seeing a seven of it although nothing is impossible. I've still got the 12" too after Sam made it a mini monster.... well for a few weeks anyway! Steve- Your Thoughts Please On New Venue
The DJ booth is quite small and the CD decks are already installed with nowhere to put some SL1200's. Like I said it's more of a chill out scenario, a venue in a scenic village where you could enjoy good music, good beer and like minded company with the chance to have a shuffle if you wanted to! Steve- Your Thoughts Please On New Venue
Appreciate all previous comments but I'd have to say that it may be aimed more at locals and tourists and as I said, it would be a free event and probably more background music filtering upstairs but the chance to chill and dance if you wanted to with open decks. I could see people from Huddersfield, Brighouse and Denby Dale areas taking the time to come over for a couple of beers maybe. Like I said, the idea has been put to me by the bar owner and I'm simply putting the feelers out. Steve- Your Thoughts Please On New Venue
Should have phrased differently I guess. It has a small dance floor but little room behind the DJ console to put decks in. It would be for listening and shuffling pleasure, not a place for acrobatics. - I'm 18, This 'northern' Thing Is Not Mine To Have
