Just a suggestion and i have no axe to grind with either party because both are friends of me and joy but why dont both sets of promoters invite bob and thier lass or partner to come and have a look at both events as guests and then ask bob to come back on after and tell us his thoughts on both weekenders(be nice to see what someone who has just come back on the scene thinks to our fantastic music in 2010)only an idea all the best Yocky. ps Bob why not try the Skeggy weekender as well brilliant weekender imho cheers.

Hi Adam very sad to hear you are moving away slightly from the soul scene, i was very lucky to be introduced to you a few years ago by Sam and Andy and have bought a few bits and bats off you (all in great cond may i add)but the most important thing about you mate is you always have time to give a bit of advice even if it is not involved in a sale and i can honsestly say the two records i sold to you you gave me a very fair price not like some dealers i could mention.What ever you discide to do bud i wish you all the best and glad the soul supermarket will be up and running look after yourself mate and all the best Yocky(Barnsley)

Hows about when you meet a couple at prestatyn and tell them about your venue up in yorkshire and they ask if they get a program when they come in and you tell them for a joke you get a program,free cd t shirt, poster and mug for the 1st 500 and they turn up ask for thier goody bag and then ask for thier £4 each back and call you a robbing ba%$^&D for having them trail 13.5 miles for nothing then we offer them free entrance and they tell us to F""k off nar thats moaning.Yocky

Hello everybody, these are the times & arrangements for Linda's Funeral:- Wednesday the 20th of May 11:00am at Rose Hill Crematorium, Cantley Lane, Cantley, Donaster, DN4 6NE. Then afterwards at " The Earl Of Doncaster Hotel" in town. Donation's for Cancer Research & Doncaster Hospice would be appreaciated, just flower's from imediate family thank's. Hope this give's everyone time to get sorted. Big thankyou to everyone for all the card's, kind word's & support. Speical thank's to all our close freind's (you know who you are). Woody has asked if I would put this post on, as understandably he isn't upto it today. Sadly today at 3.15am our dear soul friend Linda passed away after a long battle with cancer. Such a soulful gentle Lady ,I am sure she will be missed by everyone. A dear friend Yocky and I will dearly miss. I will update this post as soon as Dave gets back to me with the Funeral arrangements. Everybody is welcome. Please feel free to add to this thread any kind words as a tribute to Linda. Can we say it is very sad news to hear the alldayer has been cancelled and our thoughts go out to Tracy and Andy who had the ambitions to put a smashing event like this at the palais but unfortunatly as not come in to fruition, and there is an old saying its better to have tried and failed than not to have tried at all and i bet both of them have had sleepless nights worrying about this event.Both Joy and myself along with Nel and woody have run a event up in yorkshire for the past three years and in our opinion was quite succesfull but it took a hell of a lot of hard work sweat and tears and quite a few scares and scrapes and after promoting our event for 2009 were told we could no longer have the premises for our event after laying out in excess of £700 and quite of a lot of hard work we were devasted but we pulled up our socks got a new venue and now we are back on coarse and im sure tracey and andy will do the same.Without hyjacking the thred i think people have to understand that not everyone are (proffesional promoters)but a group of friends putting a event on to attract like minded people to come and have a good time listen to great music and meet new friends on the soul scene and hopfully cover the costs of the night and i bet there is loads of venues around the country that just scrape through but keep putting their events on because of the love of the scene.Can i just finish by saying please dont be too hard on them they will probally feel a bit gutted at the minute and in need of a bit of support and that is something we have plenty of on the soul scene all the best yocky & Joy

Hi many many thanks for the information of the above show can i just say how much we all enjoyed it one of the most moving times of my life. Myself and about 5 friends traveled up to see it on my Birthday only to find it was sold out when we got there but down to some smooth banter from my good friend Billy Snow he got them to let us in but not only that we got front row seats and wept tears of emotion to what must be the most moving and fun production i have ever seen live or on TV,the only down side was when it came to the end and we had to leave a beautifull place full of loving people who made us feel really welcome and could not believe how we had come to be in the Black Ensemble Theatre but the Highlight for me must be when the entire cast asked me to stand up and then sang happy birthday to me to the backing of Stevie Wonders happy birthday thanks again and if anyone is going to chicago in the next 10 days go and have a look its fantastic all the best Yocky.
