  1. Just another bootlegger with no morals looking to make a fast buck at somebody else's cost............
  2. Bargain at 350..............
  3. It's probably a lot more involved than a labour love. Given that DH was in the Temptones, and both he and JO were in the Masters, it's possible that they shared studio time with the Volcanos in the day.
  4. Sorry Ian, it's not a patch on the Volcanos, and it's certainly not a contemporary '60's recording. This track didn't make the Change of Season album which was mid 80's.
  5. It was issued on both vinyl and styrene, and also booted on styrene. If I remember correctly the styrene boot has a lighter shaded label, which is usually creased through poor manufacture. I know this is not much help for your existing copy, but you're guaranteed an original copy with significantly beter playing quality if you aim for vinyl. Most styrene 45s end up with needle burn over time.
  6. Pete, each to their own.... It's bloody awful as a SOUL record, but obviously there's dance floor appeal......... Though back on thread, I don't understand how it can still command a 5k price tag...
  7. Nice find Barry.... that's a bit special.. Shame it's so brief...he was just getting into it when he walked off, but from the brief clip you can tell he still has a great voice... He must have still been at school when he recorded it
  8. I'd pay good money to see that, but more if "Just To Keep You Satisfied" was on the list.......their best recording IMHO..
  9. It looks like a whole lot of Ernest Kelley master tapes...very interesting...and just listening to the sample, there's some obvious finished and released tracks in there including Mike Jemison, Sandra Richards and Priscilla Price. It'll be very interesting to know where thes turn up, and whether there'll be any unissued material released in the future.
  10. Great story Dave..... I used to be out in Bangkok on business regularly......if only I'd have know back then....
  11. It's very quite on this, so here's a label scan to prompt some input.....

It's always been around in quantity, so you should be able to pick one up quite easily for 10-15 quid....
  13. Never seen for sale, and there's only one copy listed on Popsike.... Thoughts on today's value would be appreciated.....ta...

  15. He who hesitates and all that.................
  16. Yeah, but Steve's a complete looney...
  17. The Village Soul Choir - Sweet Hot Lips - N.Y.C Street Sound 12" Excellent condition ** Gone to a very good home ** In demand, killer modern soul tune PM me for details, scan, sound clip and payment details.....
  18. Amazing that you really don't see any wrong in that....no, you go on all your hard work, you deserve it....why should the artist and the production team get any recognition.....you really are the limit.... Almost as hard to believe as the fact you'd rather sell your mates c/u carvers than direct them to CD Baby...unreal..
  19. Hi Adam, Firstly, I only know the track because Beeks claimed it as his cover up and then got all upset and had a hissy fit because a few found out what it was. I didn't know that anyone else was playing it, and how would I ? Secondly, and let's talk about respect....what kind of guy finds (or claims to, if Russ beat him to it) a CD track, covers it up, and then offers to sell carvers from it. I couldn't care less whether it's rock'n' roll or soul....it's just plain wrong. And finally, don't you think you're taking this all a bit too seriously.... Don't suppose you want that CD I owe you now then......
  20. .....and so you should be Steve.........very glad to say this isn't in my hot box (or should I say hot CD wallet)..
  21. Agree with you on the flip Mike..it's pretty special. I thought they might be the re-formed 50's group, but none of the Era credits match the 50's line-up. The Soul Harmony only lists Jimmy & The Spartans on Satellite, but no group line up credits...likely it's a different group.
  22. "Top" "DJ" rock 'n' roll c/u......Ruby Ramirez....."Shorty something or other....." "Little Man" https://www.cdbaby.com/cd/littlerachel2
  23. Quite possibly Ted...............ahead of my time again..........
  24. Come on Ted, catch up......I used to play it Albrighton......
  25. The going rate for a Spartans is around 300-350......it's definitely a tough record to find, ask John Anderson. I saw him pay 300+ for it a few years back at Essence, and I think he knows about rarity and value. The flip also makes it collectable by the group and deep soul guys.
