A great venue, great sounds and crowd and sadly passed over wen people are talking about venues of the past. Had many a happy night there and, as Alison siad, began my first foray into Modern soul there. I seem to recall it was a great place if you wanted to get the big toons on heavy weight vinyl - ie, metal backed acetates :-)))) Off to check out the link now

Caught the show and again another great episode. Hopefully this will be released as a DVD (visit the BBC website and post a notice on the chat board please - link elsewhere in this site) Then flicked over to BBC4 and caught the great Mahalia Jackson live from 1964, one of my fave Gospel singers. Quality throughout the evening from the Beeb.

I haven't spoken with him about this but I agree with the others, i really don't think it was meant to be offensive. God knows VicG has had his say on our event in the past that we haven't agreed with but we haven't banned him from expressing them. Let's all just lighten up a bit and accept that sometimes something in print reads worse than if it was said.
