  1. I am not slagging off Mickey. When my Dad died he was a shadow of the Man I grew up with and looked up to and seeing him in that condition is my last memory of him. A once powerful man ravaged by a terrible desease and left him a shell. The Wheel, the building, is but a shell and deteriorated to a state where it looks like a squat. If it closes tomorrow it will be my final memorie of a once great club. The Music will live on in our hearts and we share the memories with our friends. I'm not dissing the Music, The Atmosphere, The Punters etc I just dont want to see it fade away and leave a sad picture behind. Love and respect to all the guys and girls that are keeping it alive but the Life Support Machines batteries are waning and the light is only kept glowing through the good intentions of honest people like yourself. If it can be saved and 'restored' hurrah, but if it is to go then so be it. I suppose I should really take heed and rethink my stratogies. Join the masses and save her - perhaps !!
  2. Not been for years so decided to call in on The Wheel a couple of Months ago.Its time to let go and leave the old lady to pass away in peace. Clinging to a memory that has long gone. The Wheel led the way for others to then carry the Flag such as The Torch, The Casino etc. Its not The Wheel any more, its an old semi derilict building that is in desperate need of either restoration or the wrecking ball.Let us bow our heads and remember .....

Moses Smith - Who is / was he ?? Where did he come from ?? What else did he definitely record ?? Was he someone else's alter ego ?? Where is he now ???
  8. MickH has a scratchy hissey copy ( on Demo ) of Gwen Owens and plays it. He could get a 'copy' for £20 but he has integrity and carries the spirit of Northern Soul with him. I would be embarrassed and ashamed to play it in his presence. You should therefore assume that other DJs may be carrying an Original copy of what you are about to play out in there box. Don't do it. Have respect for the music. Go to The louvre, they put up a Print of The Mona Lisa but, hey, they have the original in their Vaults. Would you accept that, I think not !!!
  9. That's it, stop now. What an awesome tune. It's says everything. Driving, soul, torture and a story to tell. That has got to be The One !!
  10. The Charades - Key to My Happiness Or The Van Dykes - Save Your Love For A Rainy Day

Got to agree with you matey. This inane fascination with The Casino - did more harm than good to the music. Contact by Edwin Starr, that's when Johnno picked his bag up and walked out never to return. Frank Wilson - Motown reject bubblegum, easy listening pop. As long as you can spin on the spot, doesn't matter that you've got no rhythm. Too many topics to discus. Leave us alone, let it die with us.

No good to you but I've got a copy. Play it, I'm back at Samanthas mid 70's. Seen it a few times on E-Bay. Not fetching much and not heard it played out for years, last time was when I played it myself. Good luck with your search - buy it - play it Tezza XXX
  14. Hi Dave, Got your first copy - excellent. A must read for all of us boys and girls. At Prestatyn March so hopefully can pick a copy up there. Cheers

Its not your responsability. He should reinburse you and claim from the Post Office as most packages come with 'insurance'. How much are we talking ?? 100s or 10s ?? They should be covered for £36 iI believe as standard.

Just an extra .. What I am looking at in particular is 'Northern Soul' and not Soul music in general. People tell me that the are so inextricably linked that it is impossible to differentiate. In the 60's/70's the Northern Soul scene, as it became known, was very exact in its parameters. We still remember 1974 when Ian Levine first played The Carstairs and how we thought it was the beginning of the end. Everybody has an opinion I just need some good, honest feedback. Thanks Terry
