Mark, I don't think anybody put up that in the 1st year alone the amount of LP tracks that Russ played. eg Four Seasons "I'm gonna change" Gladys Knight "Ain't no sun" Marvelletts "Your love can save me" Thelma Houston "I ain't going nowhere" Mr Bloe "Land of a 1000 dances" Mike Post "Afternoon of the rhino" Outsiders "Lonely man" Magnifent Men "Just walk in my shoes" Danny Wagner "This thing called love" Total Eclipes "6-0-Clock" Al Wilson "Passport" Excitiers "Movin too slow" Watts 103rd st R. B. "The joker" Just a few off top of my head, Russ did play Yvonne Baker before Ian Levine but it was off a S.S. emidisc like Strings a-go-go (Double cookin), Footsie etc. It was a few weeks later Ian got a real one, and not long after John Anderson got a few and most of the top DJs at the time had it. Also we can't forget the many inst's via S.S. that hit the decks in 1974. Russ did play some great stuff at Wigan, but also played some of the very worst, we all know what he's remembered for. Dave.
  3. Ya, I had never noticed that before.
  4. The text on the right hand side is all lined up, the text on the boot is not.
  5. I paid £30 for a cracked copy of The Anderson Brothers in 1975. I got it off Rod Shard, sold it in the 80s for £80 to Ian Gilly who has still got it.
  6. When I 1st heard Lou Courtney's "Trying to find my woman" me I was singing, trying to find a walrus. For f**k sake way would anybody sing about a walrus. Lou thinks we all need hearing tests, that or we are all wrong in the head.
  7. Harry from Joe's Bar.
  8. BTW Torch for me Dec 72. No idea what record was playing. Lou's 1st was Burnley Bank Hall Miners in the 80s.
  9. Carlo was with Harry at the Morecambe weekender last year. In fact we were sat with them. P.S. I never went to the Darlo-nighter, but I think it's the same Carlo.
  10. I am always getting the lyrics wrong or the gender of the singer. Sing my own words in the songs. Lou is always pulling me "what the hell are you singing again" It was only when I went on you=yube to put up Eve Gallagher that I found out she was female. Thinking about it the name should have give it away and like you said on re-listening it is obvious.
  11. I would not had said poor, but it's not great, average at best.
  12. The Group "I Don't Like To Lose" Richard got best past of 3 years play out of it, maybe a little more.
  13. I sold one last summer for £50.
  14. Tina Turner in Mad Max 3.

Bloody hell Jim, I had forgot all about Donaheys. Dave.
  16. They were abit before your time, as far as I can remember they stopped going late 75 early 76. P.S. I stopped going to Wigan myself in early 76. Went a few times in 77 & 78, but only to sell records. Did not stop all-night. I started going alot again in 79 right till the end, but never on a Friday to the oldies night.
  17. Nice one Martin.
  18. How about Ray Pollard "The Drifter" and Joi Cardwell "Let It Go"
  19. Sorry lads, yes all the above but main room 1973 Also when Wigan 1st opened going to hear the Sherrys fantastic.
  20. Yes they were. They don't fit me anymore Can you imazine going to a do now not being able to wear jeans and got to wear shit and tie to get past the doormen.
  21. No, never had any trouble myself in the corridor. Just that time in the Beachcomber as I said earlier. By the time M's opened I knew enough people to feel safe.
  22. Reading your post took me back to when I 1st stating going to soul do's, went to Blackpool Mecca in 1971 age 16. We used to see Teddy Boys still going to Rock n Roll nights, they would have been late 20s or early 30s. The point being we used to think they were sad, but here I am still going to soul do's at 54, nearly 40 years later.
  23. No not you, they were from Blackburn and used to hang around with some Preston lads.
