  1. Can't even guess at today's value but hey.......one out of two ain't bad! Enjoy the sound clip.

Anyone seen it on the Radio City label? Would love to see a scan if anyone has one!
  3. Gene-r posted a post in a topic in Record Wants
    About £75.

Definitely a booteg - and a crap quality one with it. For a start, same colour as the demo, but "Special Disc Jockey Record" is missing, and the typeface is arsed about with. And it still commands interest at £30! BTW - there are 2 different issues, which are either dark blue/silver, or black/silver. Hope this helps!

The one on Ebay strikes me as a definite original for two reasons: 1. There isn't a noticeable bevelled edge. 2. Most importantly, on the bootleg, the typeface for the title "When I'm With My Baby" is different to the one for "Count The Days". It is a more bolder, modern typeface. Looking at the pics on Ebay here, the typefaces for both titles appear to be the same; nothing like the boot. Hope this helps. Gene

Clue - someone has it on their auctions at the moment!

Ian - that's a whole half-verse in one line with half a lyric removed - cheat!!! OK Ian, something a bit harder for you then: "When I was just a little girl, I never did no wrong"

Dunno, but I believe it was covered up as "Out On The Floor" by Dobie Gray. Here's one then: "Every time I hear your name, makes me wonder if things will ever be the same........"
  9. Nothing dodgy about this one!
  10. Sorry Mark - but I've promised to keep Mace's secret a secret! If anyone meets my mum, don't tell her I've sold it! PS - For an extra £10, who wants the Pic Sleeve it came in???
  11. Probably more like "Monty Python and the Holy Grail"! Have to say, I did pester my mum to buy me Footsee on its release (she gave me the 50p to buy it) - but then, I was only 10 years old!

The Magnetics 45 is out-and-out doo-wop, so anyone looking to unearth another soul gem by them may be a little disppointed. Lillian Dorr's "Let's Have A Dance" is a nice Soul track which, I think, goes for around the £100 - £150 mark. The label's releases all date from 1962. Gene

    Love is in the air!!!
  14. No probs Ted - if you PM me your Email addy, I'll get them done and sent to you later tonite. All the best, Gene
  15. Ted - if you can think of the other one, let me know and I'll get them up in the Gallery later tonite (or send you MP3s if you prefer). It wasn't their version of "I'll Never Forget You", was it.......? BTW, here's a bit of useless trivia. "Till The End Of Time" was first recorded in 1945, by Perry Como!
  16. Had a bit of an LP night yesterday - here's what was played in the comfort of my own home! All are LP tracks: JOHNNY WATSON: Takin' No Chances (Okeh) SUPREMES: Shake Me, Wake Me (UK MFP Sounds Superb) THE TOYS: What's Wrong With Me Baby (Dynovoice) THE METROS: Till The End Of Time (RCA) THE TEMPESTS: I Cried For You (Smash) OTIS REDDING: Security (UK Atlantic) SPOONERS CROWD: Two In The Morning (UK Marble Arch) WILSON PICKETT: Baby Don't You Weep (UK Marble Arch) RAY CHARLES: All Night Long (Conquest) JAMES CARR: Coming Back To Me Baby (Goldwax) BOBBY BLAND: Shoes (Duke) DALE HAWKINS: Suzie-Q (UK Chess) ....then had a bit of a non-Northern UK 45s session!........ MAXIMILIAN: The Snake (London) DR FEELGOOD & THE INTERNS: Mister Moonlight (Columbia) THE IMPRESSIONS: It's All Right (HMV) LITTLE MAC: You Can't Love Me In The Midnight Hour (Atlantic) BARBARA GEORGE: I Know (You Don't Want Me No More) (London) THE MAJORS: She's A Troublemaker (London) THE CLOVERS: Love Potion No. 9 (London) CASSIUS CLAY: Stand By Me (CBS) and then went to bed on a happy note!! Bought my gold label original at Cheapo Cheapo's record stall in Berwick Street market, Soho, in 1984 for a £1! Sold it to a mate a few months later and made a profit margin of £4! That would have been the right price then. Oh God, if i knew then what I knew now!
  18. Let me know when you do, and If your shagged one's up for sale!! BTW, thanx for putting me right on 39-21-46!! Gene
  19. Just how many times has this been said of reissues that eventually flood the rare soul market??????? Is this also meant to imply that the remaining 225 copies are being distributed within the USA? Call me cynical, but been there, heard that, and I don't think so..........
  20. It's a pity that the original B-side wasn't kept on the reissue. It's a blinding version of the Showmen's 39-21-26 (whatever it's called), and is like "A Secret Of Mine" without the bass line. Best to still look for the original on Groove for an excellet double-header.
  21. And your point is Kenneth?
  22. Wouldn't "clique" be more than appropriate?
  23. Likewise, I have always loved instrumentals, and it's records like these that keep me dancing: THE CHAUMONTS: Now You've Gone FRANK FOSTER: Harlem Rumble MIKE VICKERS: On The Brink THE KONTETS: Now You've Got Me Baby (c/u) - unissued DONTEE STUDIO BAND - Alone With No Love CHECKERBOARD SQUARES: Double Cookin' PANIC BUTTONS: Come Out Smokin' GEORGE KERR ORCHESTRA: Love On A Rampage DETROIT LAND APPLES: I Need Help THEO-COFF INVASION: Lucky Day PETER HAMILTON GENERATION: Hey Girl .....of course, there are a few instrumentals that I just can't stand! Amongst them are: PAL & THE PROPHETS: Peace Pipe AL FOSTER BAND: Night Of The Wolf BALTIMORE & OHIO MARCHING BAND: Condition Bad MISTURA: The Flasher BILLY BUTLER: Right Track (instr). More when I think of them.......
  24. Probably implies that the recod is worn with a bad hiss, hence the reason for playing it with a 78 stylus. A 78 stylus does drown out hisses, even on vinyl. Mind you, I've bought from Nathan on numerous occasions and found his gradings to be honest. He's one of these characters with a good personality, and a distinctive sign-off to all correspondence: "Have a blessed day, in Jesus's name!"

HIGH KEYS - I've seen the yellow demos going for about £150 -£175.
