THE CHAUMONTS: Now You've Gone (Bay Sound) VG+ (slite edge warp NAP) £60 Very tiny edge warp which doesn't even touch playing surface. THE DYNAMICS: Old Shoes And Rice (SAA-CE) VG+ £100 This has a very, very tiny 1mm chip on the edge, nowhere near the playing surface. Not even worth mentioning....just that I'm honest. Also a small scratch which can be heard for about 8 revs after the second verse. JEFF LANE: You Put A Hurt On Me (United International) EX £40 Good early-sounding dancer, seen selling for £75 RONNIE HAWKINS: Southern Love (Whatcha Gonna Do) (UK Columbia) MINT- £30 Blue-eyed R&B which has been creating a stir amongst R&B lovers over the past couple of years. Writing on B-side label SOLD MARGO & THE MARVETTES: When Love Slips Away (UK Pye) MINT- £35 Because of a pressing fault, there is a light crackle in the silent run-in and run-out, which doesn't affect the listening of the record itself, and is really nothing to worry about. THE MARKETTS: Stirrin' Up Some Soul (SWEDISH Warner Bros) EX++ £15 Swedish issue from 1972 with a wrapover art sleeve

Dickie Wonder
Have to say that for 1965, it sounds well ahead of its time!
-
Would You Play These
All good records, but I only play them at weddings or general '60s nites.
-
Great Title, Artist, Label.... But Oh Dear
Mikey - you should flip it over and play the better side "Which One Should I Choose"!

What Percentage Of The Scene Is Gay?
Well Stuart, I hope whoever was responsible for the small stool eventually cleaned it up, and vowed to keep his dog under control! I don't really think it's appropriate to question ones sexuality on the soul scene, let alone in general. We are now in the millenium, and with the fact that homosexuality/bisexuality has been brought out in the open and, therefore, more widely accepted, I believe that every music scene has a gay element, same as it does a mixed race element. After all, isn't the soul scene all about the music? Should diversity be brought into it? Yours, Gene (straight, married, and doesn't give a monkeys!)

Rah Band
Much better then their one-hit wonder "The Crunch" on Good Earth!
-
Albums Without Their Sleeves
Ken, the few Purdah releases that came out in the mid-60s were all limited to 99 copies - something about purchase tax avoidance I think.
-
A Few For Sale
Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Animal........................ ..oops - sorry Toby mate! Didn't mean to hijack your post. Good luck with the sales - hope to see you soon.

Bobby Kline
Have no info on Bobby Kline, but I think you'll find "Say Something Nice To Me" is more likely to be from 1969 rather than 1972. What I can say is that the single was released on the MB label, and has "Takin' Care of Business", a nice uptempo cut, on the flip side.
-
The Tempests
My faves on the LP are "I Cried For You" and "Ain't That Enough". However, I don't think these guys could have made a duff track if they ever tried!

Dodgy Deals? German Seller Item 330047150350
Sounds like that low life super_shipper, who also sent me an empty package - note that this guy has scammed someone else using the same tactic. Incidentally, to update you on the super-shipper saga, it's now in the hands of the Financial Ombudsman for the UK (who have received a formal complaint from me about PayPal, but that's another story) and the Indiana State Police. More later.......................

Best List Error Of The Month
I can only spot one error in that................wasn't it actually called "Hotter Than Fire"?
-
Best List Error Of The Month
Speaking of track listing errors, Psychedelic Soul by Saxie Russell sounds bloody ahead of its time for 1956, doesn't it!
-
Unfortunate Label Misprints
Well, isn't Tank De Lard the French saying for Vat of Fat? Seriously, there was also a similar misprint of "She Pon Top" by Prince Buster which, when released by Blue Beat in the UK, became "Sheep On Top".
-
Unfortunate Label Misprints
I can remember Pete Myles' copy of a well-known Falcons single, where the bottom of the label folded over itself, resulting in the title "Good God Feeling"! Should that have qualified for the gospel soul thread?
