I am sure my tale of infactuation with the sound is recorded in the raresoul forum soultalk , I will try and search the soulful detroit archives today because a few of my chums on there helped in my crusade to find the lead singer ... Victor who served in the American Airforce . I was writing to a girlfriend who was in a relationship with one of the band , i was so close but never got to speaking to the boyfriend. Yes this one really did have an impact on me , got obsessed by it , I really got the anorak bug with this one lol and yes my copy of the track came from a friend that got it from Shifty originally ..so yes it was a shifty find . i wish I could find the piece I wrote would love to read it again. Found the other side as the B side really amusing Will the band see any of the sale proceeds on the release ?

Steve I used to have Pat & the Neurotics in those day , so regretted selling it , but the replacement served as a good choice , a bit slower and easier on the feet and pocket . Must confess I kept saying maybe play it next time out ... but never thought people would receive it in the places that I have played in the past , glad to now feel that the environments have blossomed , and feel much more freedom of play nowadays ,and also thrilled to bits that people are lovin the Bamboos Step it up.

This sound really got under my skin around five years ago I think it was , did loads of research on it myself , such emotive lyrics it really did stand out as a killer cut to me back then . I wrote something in soul up north on it too and remember a massive debate trying to dicover who the people behind the song was . At one point I i thought the lead singer was Bobby Jones . Would love to read the piece again ... lost my copy when I moved up north. Imagine my delight holding one at Prestatyn ... Tim Browns box , god it was electrifying ! You know It must be annoying if you are about to Dj and someone has played the unofficial copy before you go on , maybe the way to protest about this is to play your original , apologise to the audience/dancers that it's a repeat play , however its being played in its original format which will add to their experiece as it will have a better sound quality .

I refuse to be drawn into anything heavy this week as its holiday countdown for me , but I will ask the question have the politics been around forever? My guess is it seems to be far more political nowadays because there is a sort of Soul houses of parliment on here the debate is global and can be viewed by all and many memebrs can have their say. I do wonder what the politics side of things meant 20 years ago?

No best place is on top Matt.... the balcony view lets you see all , I have spent many hour at Blackpool picking out the best dancers from above , interesting how some dancers do move their pitch around the floor too.

For me this week it has to be The Puzzles (Fat back ) , what a double sider ...Initially I was attracted to My sweet baby with its smooth harmonies and treeeeeeeemendos build into a creeeeechendo of energy , and then I turned it over and found I need you , wwwwwwwwwwwwow ! so happy with this months purchase ... does it get any better ?

Last night I was watching Brents son on the floor and I just couldn't take my eyes off watching those young legs dancing so effortlessly and it got me wondering , it must have been an amazing sight seeing 80 % of the room dance as well as that . I mentioned it to Nige and he was saying that the best dancers danced at the front ... I wondered who they were and how was it controlled , or did dancers just know their place ? It doesn't happen today I guess ? because there arn't that many exceptional dancers . I could have watched that lad dance all night .

This is a group that is very close to my heart love their sound it's so hard to pick a fave the above one is bloody awesome along with Maintain your cool , Gotta give her love , I just can't help myself and the one I am really enjoying this morning "I've never been so in love" this very much has a "today" feel about it , it sounds so progressive to my ears this morning . In fact I recall about 12 years ago not seeing their attraction because I was a faster lady my then partner Brian pointed the group out to me , big respect for this .... and then as time moved on I grew to love their sound with a passion. I should really have these in my collection , can't believe I haven't ? I quite like the chugger of a sound everyone knows the troubles I've seen too. I doubt if a poll result will change anyones mind as to how they feel on this subject Chalky , its something that is personal to the individual The assumption that DJs collectors promoters have voted in the main is due to the poll being for SS members only, and even though there are many members on SS I personally would hazard a guess that most active members that post on a regualr basis fall into the mentioned catagories. I could be wrong ..its just an opinion I think Mike mentioned earlier many skip certain forums and just focus on the areas of the forum they have an interest in - Events /Sales because they arn't interested in the anal .......itical side of things Everyones opinion is valid I haven't seen anyone say certain parties shouldnt vote ?

I don't know because you failed to incorporate that in your poll , which I see you have amended once already as you had incorporated questions that we did not ask in the original thread. Anyway I know when I am beat Chalks , and I am not going to tear your poll apart or argue the toss with you , but its a bit like having a generel election and asking only the tory party to vote ... I must have missunderstood what your polling standards /rules are I assumed anyone and everyone could vote not just active members.... I assumed too much

oh I doubt i will ever own one now knowing its rare , it came as a dissapointment when I played the flip to Standing on solid ground thinking this was it and then finding out it wasn't.
