Walter Jackson "uphill Climb To The Bottom"
Train spotting time. Has anybody noticed the difference in the album track to the 45? To my ears there is more of a female vocal on the album track just after half way when the strings and horns kick in, WJ vocals depart and a more predominate female vocal comes out. While there is a female backing on both tracks, on the album (Speak her name) the female vocal is defo more pronounced? would it be a quieter cut on the LP which makes this possible or is it a slightly different version/take? I know must get a life....was just wondering if anybody else noticed this considering it's an very old well known track? Dave

Prowlin' Records Discography?
I am led to believe this label belonged to Zeke and had strong connections with Space,Kris, ,Ride, Progress,Movin and Kick Off. The Lynn Defino 45 missing side is "I laughed at mama" and if my memory serves me right I tipped it a few years back on here..........only for it to sink.....what do I know? another missing on the label discog is 7100 Zeke Strong & Wanda Richardson. " Every woman has a right" Part 1&2. I would guess the Orange label design ( although different spelling?) was the first issue I have never been sure what years it ran over and would suggest it went from the sixties into the early seventies . Not heard the Kenny D Freeman 45 but the Lynn Defino is a seventies release in my book. A great little indie label I've collected over the years with some lovely music on it not to mention a cracking label design! Strange Zeke spent most of his life in and around LA but died in Arizona? hope this helps Dave Halsall

Lost Vinyl Gems Of The 60's Blogsite Update
Pete personally I think the site is great, and any improvement could only be made by you if you want to be critical on your self. Just keep adding more records and info, because that knowledge that is in your head from years of experience of collecting and selling cannot be bought. It's a real pleasure to read record info like this, top site.

Billy Davis - Stanky Get Funky
I haven't got one, but I have a few other labels like this....ie. missing info on one side, it is just a pressing plant fault. To explain..... basically two labels become stuck together when placed on the record during manufacturing and the top label gets printed with the record info. This top label falls off or is removed at a letter date leaving the record with a proper stuck down plain label. Most if not all labels are preprinted with company name, design etc so tey can be loaded into themachine ready for placing on record and over printed with record info. Simple really. Not rare as to value but probably unique in its own right, now if you had a different song on the blank label side then that would be another matter. hope this helps? Dave

Tonite - Northern Soul Bbc Living For The Weekend
If I had a rich family back in the 70s and had regular holidays in The USA I'm pretty sure I would of brought back at least 4001 records back I know my father wouldn't have suggested throwing the records out of the plane, cos I would of left the family back in USA to make way for more records! Too much crowing about what certain people DID for the northern soul scene , but no bloody mention of the singers, songwriters, label owners etc, who without them, they wouldn't possibly be who they are today and we poor mere mortals would have diddly squat! Dave.

Royal Mail, Great Work Boys
That sort of brings new meaning to "breaking records on the scene.........." If there is a bright side to this heinous crime then for the grace of god it could of been a Frank Wilson or similar holy grail!, Feel for ya Pete cos of the sodding paperwork you have to go through just to prove its their effin fault. Had it happen once only to me and thankfully at the time our postie was used to records coming so when he was sorting the mail and noticed it somewhat bend he brought out a compo form.........now that's service mate.
