Not arguing for or against any question of "can it be true" ? but the U.S. Forces have been based in Germany since the Second World War and most, if not all the camps had radio stations which were sent records from the USA, in addition to their personnel how may also have brought record or had records sent from home, so it's not unrealistic to have these items in Germany. Some servicemen settled in Germany, so if they had them records from new and have disposed of them locally then why shouldn't they be hoovered up by an established seller? No different from here or in the States! Just a thought for what it is worth. As a footnote, my demo copy of Alice Clark "You hit me" Warner Bros, came from RAF Woodbridge radio station in Suffolk which is a U.S. Airforce base and that was circa late 70s. My mates dad who was up there on a course or something, got talking to a guy who was one of the radio DJs and had 2 spare copies of AC which he gave him.His son Mark kept one and gave me one FOC. I think collectively, that we must not think or assume they are the same copies, as Tim is a long standing collector and record dealer. Personally, I don't think he would make such a conflicting sales pitch unless he has two or more copies. I may well be wrong, but using the same label scans or same description, isn't a crime or underhand. if the ebay items sell first,and cheaper than the Anglo Auction, then to be frank, that's Tims problem ( if it is a problem?) being a dealer with his contacts, why not assume he has 2 or more copies rather than there's something amiss? How many rare or hard to find records have been turn up in handfuls or box counts over the years? Just my opinion, but Soul fans do tend to get real precious about the scene and to be frank some people tend to take the negative tack rather than let it flow! Dave

Beauty Isn't Born has been a big fave at Soul Essence for its sheer Soul quality, it doesn't have to be 100 miles an hour to be ranked as good surely ? I have a recording in the same style as "Beauty isn't Born" titled "It's just a miracle" that was credited to JM but I have never been able to qualify that, but whenever I have played it's been well recieved just like "Beauty" In my opinion all JMs releases are quality! to to my knowledge he only had 4 releases and there must be something somewhere.....we can live in hope.
