That is definitely the Dramatics- sounds like it was slowed down though.

It depended on what record store you shopped at. Some had the records out in the open- others had a list at the counter and you would tell them what 45 you wanted.

With J.J. Barnes and the Parliaments flying up the charts, I think the company decided to promote those two releases and the Jackie Beavers 45 got lost in the shuffle.

I've never seen a copy of "The Night" on a U.S. 45. As far as I know, it was only available on the Chameleon album.

Not a 100% sure but this looks like it came from one of the Oldies specials that are frequently shown on PBS on American tv. If it is, it would date from the late 1990's/ early 2000's.

I think the 45 looks great. Sound quality is good- don't think it came from a master tape- sounds decent.

This is the unreleased version of "How Can I Ever Find A Way" from the Fifth Estate CD. Someone just made it look like it was a Red Bird promo. It is slightly different from the released version- definitely not the same from 0:09- 0:15 when you compare the 2 versions side by side.

There was a thread on SS a few years back (2015) - basically the backing band was identified as the D-Men who later became the Fifth Estate. Carol and Gerri were remembered as "a couple of girls from the neighborhood".

I was told about a remix of Marvin Gaye "If This World Were Mine". I don't think this is Marvin. My questions are- 1) Do you think this sounds like Marvin? 2) Do you know who this really is?

The first version of this song was by Tom Jones. It was originally written for Sandie Shaw who turned it down.

Motown mostly used red vinyl for their promo releases. There were some yellow and blue vinyl promos in the 70's. I don't think I've ever seen purple vinyl for a Motown release, have seen it on Okeh though.

I've never heard the record played on the radio or tv. In fact, the only time I heard it played out was at one of Soul Trip U.S.A. events. It's probably only known to Motown collectors and among record collectors.
