Swiftly into action in 2023 Steppin' Out enters its seventh year full of itchy optimism. Born out of the Dugout Soul Club, Steppin' Out has built up a strong following based on its solid delivery of the finest Soul, Rhythm & Blues, Latin & Jazz vinyl played by the some of the most excellent guest DJs on the scene. Our guests this month are JAN TWO SUGARS + hopefully recovered from festive flu, equally sweet ANDY ROBBO (Scorpio Soul Club) + globetrotting KEITH LLOYD!! The Mascara Bar is a mighty fine small venue, with superb sound, great staff team & a great mix of people.

The legendary Steppin' Out NYE Allnighter was launched in 2016. Since then it has become the must attend event of the night! The 2022 event feature 3 of resident JD's fun chums: All renowned promoters & ace DJs in their own right: GLEN GOODWIN (Stax of Soul/Hole in the Wall) + TINA & BRIAN LINDSAY (From the Floorboards Up/Spoonful). Unmissable! The Mascara Bar does not hike its prices on NYE, it is a genuinely cosmopolitan venue with a great Bar & Security team. It's an all singing (around midnight) & all dancing (original vinyl Northern & Club soul/Motown/Rhythm & Blues/Boogaloo/Jazz) thriller No Door Tax but come early to avoid disappointment! -

JD lauched Steppin' Out on 13 August 2016 after 5 years hard labour at Dugout Soul Club. Since then the club has become a firm fixture on London's soul scene renowned for the finest DJs spinning cutting edge soul, rhythm & blues, boogaloo and jazz.
