Masque Venue - Liverpool 01 Feb
Green Onions – Keep the flame burnin’
Friday, 1st February 2002
9.00pm – 3.00am
The Masque Venue, 90 Seel Street, Liverpool L1 4BH
The Masque presents Liverpool’s coolest night – six hours of non-stop classic 6T’s soul, Motown, Northern Soul and R&B – with original DJs Phil Saxe (1968-71, the infamous Twisted Wheel: the birthplace of Northern Soul) and Stan Evans and Patrick (The Sink, Liverpool’s premier R&B venue).
As this city was built on beat music, it’s great to discover the roots of the music that changed the world are still thriving. Every sixties act worth remembering began playing covers of real, down home R&B and soul. And now this music is back in vogue. All over London, new clubs catering to a new wave of soul and R&B enthusiasts are springing up. But as usual, whatever they do down there we do better!
