Llandudno Nighter , Broughton Soul Nite, Dayer+
Well bit late with a report on this weekends going ons as was such a good one, it took me this long to get over it!
Not much petrol or jacking up lifts as all 4 events were on the North Wales Coast which made life a bit easier. Starting off with the Broughton Wings Soul Nite- just off the A55 close to the border at the old British Aerospace (cant remember current name) place, its held in the Social Club on site, this is to me is always a good nite, its a great venue, smart and plush, cheap to get in, cheap beer and always a great DJ line up. Soul Sam and Brian Ellis the regulars and always quality guests. This month saw Pep and Chico doing the guesting and all delivered a quality mix of all era soul. Not as packed as last one, but still a most enjoyable nite.
Next nite saw Niter at the Llandudno Conference centre, on my doorstep this one and well to me yet another top niter. Crowd wise fairly packed and a lot of regonisable faces from all over the place, down south Cambridge way, Sheffield, Yorkshire, Scotland, Ireland and all points in between.
DJ wise, Djs inc
Dean Anderson, Kev Murphy, Bob Hinsley, Bob Schaffer, Dougie Selwell, Polly, Pete Coulson , Johnny Jones, Gary Beattie, Mark Morgan, Steve T
Think there may have been a few changes to above, but got there a bit late so cant be definite, some cracking sounds were laid down, with all eras and styles covered. Catching up and enjoying myself to take in too many details, but towards end took in more details, great set from Mark Morgan and thoroughly enjoyed great set from Pete C at last hour. Most enjoyable night, may be a bit biased as on my doorstep and so my view may be different. But gotta say asked a fair few people who travelled a bit on views and majority gave it big thumbs up and will return. So if you fancy a niter thats got its own identity and style and well to me most enjoyable get your arse down to next one.
Sunday saw the regular follow on at Llandudno - an all dayer at the Llandudno rugby club 9- 6, not a full scale major event but just a great after the main event sort of thing. About 50 there, Djs inc Kev Murphy, Pete Coulson, Bob S, Barry J, Shane C, and more and with no d/fllor pressure heard some great quality top drawer stuff
Sunday nite saw the final leg, Soul Sam at Carlton, but sad to say my body couldnt hack it, by this time the settee sneaked up on me, but heard it was up to its usual standard, with Soul Sam playing classy all era soul.
Anyway thats a brief look at going ons at weekend, most enjoyable!
