The Gretna Soul Night

advanced tickets now available  from the crown and mitre hotel reception and tourist information office town hall ,for this bank holiday bonanza, admission is ticket only at £5 and only a small number will be available on the night. see you all there  george and pete

just a quick heads up to say that we have to close the doors at 11pm....strict orders from the mitre today ..loads have asked what time can they get in .so please don,t say at the door george said this ...george said that......it won,t wash so get in before 11pm ....

just to add also that numbers are restricted now to 300 .this is due to health and safety regulations ,and also so everyone will get a seat if required...and leave plenty of room for strictly soul dancing.....lets get ready to rumble !!!

Can't make this will there be other dates this year? 

we have the 19th anniversary booked at the crown and mitre hotel. in november ....on18th ....not to be missed ....

just left the crown and mitre this afternoon and we have seating for 250 for tonight ...and downstairs and upstairs bars are open plenty of tables ..and the dance floor looks amazing........time for the tunes !!!

thank you steve , its always difficult with working at weekends and especially on a bank holiday...we had a brilliant turn out and a fantastic celebration for our 50 years on the scene ..where has the time gone ..it doesn,t seem 5 minutes since we where jumping on trains with platform tickets up here and going to the wheel .we where all just kids under age .....but we are here and still doing it....marvelous

First visit back to the crown and mitre since the soul nights in the 9ts not much atmosphere with the bright lights above the decks, every soul night and nighters I've been to are quite dark with the decks lit up by a small table light on the decks so the d j's can cue the record unless there was a film crew in that we did not see

gordon thank you for your negative comments .....not much atmosphere ? really ? are you on drugs ? i,m sorry but over 300 people in again and loads asking us when,s the next one , purely based on past nights over many many years ........and soulies  singing and dancing to there favourite songs that we all grew up with, at the gretna ...feel a bit sorry for you gordon ...why didn,t you come and see me and tell me you felt out of it ?since obviously you don,t understand what its all about . i have never in over the last 20 years of putting on the GRETNA SOUL NIGHT ever had complaints .but if your only complaint was the lights...hey ho......i,m sorry but its what we play in the grooves on original rarest vinyl that count to us all, this has also been the best supported  soul night in the area for over 18 years producing attendances on one night from 300 to over 1000 on our first night ,including 1000,s of pounds raised for charity and local flood relief  ..................

Not meant to be negative it's meant to be constructive,there I absolutely no need for those bright lights above the decks as I said a couple of small lamps would do the trick  surely you must have been to venues where this is the case

ok , point taken but ,on other occasions because of the power points ...when we used small lamps . ..ok for us to dj with ...,but the room needed some lighting ...far to dark  the room needed some lighting ,these were the dimest lights we could use ,same as everyone using the mitre.....its the only solution for everyone using the mitre  ,thats been to use the stage lights only in the room, its the only option .......it works .......yes ive dj,d at other venues ..prestatyn ,blackpool winter gardens ,and various other venues that you might be aware of. ..but im not the expert or authority on lighting...but i,ve dj,d in a lot brighter places than the mitre with loads of brilliant atmosphere and no problems.........i also find all dayers fairly bright....
