Situated in the stunning historic city of York The Clarence Beat Club also takes you back in time. To a time of smart 3 button Italian styled suits, mini dresses and skirts, button-down collars and handmade shoes, knitted ties, cufflinks, tie pins and pocket handkerchiefs. A time of 'bob' or 'back-combed' hairstyles. Continental modes of transport in the form of Vespa's or Lambretta's or the British iconic Mini. The music was new and anti-establishment: cool, finger clicking and hip shaking modern jazz, or hard-hitting, earthy R&B, or pounding soul stompers hailing from across the pond or the more relaxed vibe of the islands to the south with those rocksteady ska beats. This is what The Clarence Beat Club is all about.
Plus a great venue that welcomes you with open arms and creates that cool 60's vibe making you want to get up and shake ya thang. Cheap drink prices. Also, two NCP car parks are only 5 minutes walk from the venue and for non-York residents costs £2 to park all night after 6pm.
There's plenty to see and do: historic attractions, award-winning restaurants, good value accommodation and quality retail shopping therapy. So why not make a proper weekend of it.
