If you find yourself thinking faster faster after dancing to the Jades "Hotter than fire" then try Eddie Jasper Daye, if you think you can handle it.

Here's the studio take for those who like this sort of thing, personally I love to hear the musicians being counted in. It goes on for a further 3 minutes at the end. Wonderful.

Sometimes it’s better to let others to tell you what’s what. In this case, it’s from a review by Mike Roche from June’s CULCHETH event and at the end of the review Mike states quote; “For Soul fans and aficionados, a fabulous night from start to finish. The kind of night that reminds you why you fell in love with this music in the first place.”

So, all I can say is, if that’s the kind of soul night you are looking for, we’d love to see YOU on July 5th thumbsup

What's Happening...With a selection of great DJs every month, CULCHETH main room has already made its mark, playing mainly 60’s soul with everything from classics, rare platters, underplayed selections featured by all the DJ’s and a selection of great 70’s thrown into the mix for good effect. So, you’ll hear records you recognise, some you may not but will definitely want to hear again, just like you did when you started coming to soul events, and as Mike says,”Why you fell in love with is music in the first place!”

July 5th we welcome one of the scenes’ most charismatic and knowledgeable guys, TIM ASHIBENDE! When it comes to passion for the music Tim has long been up there with the most dedicated. From Wigan to Stafford to Today, Tim was there and still is a talisman for great, rare soul music, all you need to do is listen to his guest sets on Dean Andersons ‘Sound of Soul’ shows or hear his DJ sets across the North West

Next up on the 5th is ‘local lad’ DJ, long standing collector and all round good guy, IAN CUNLIFFE. Ian will be celebrating his 71st Birthday on the night, that’s going to make a for a great night, so if you know Ian, come and say hello…If you know Ian, you’ll know his play selections will, as always, be absolute QUALITY!

With no horses spared, pulling from our resident DJ’s list we bring you two guys, who for years have been a permanent fixture on the rare soul scene BOB HINSLEY and ROBBO. Over the past 40 years these two guys have DJ’d at some of the most influential venues ever and bring a wealth of MONSTER tunes as well as some brilliant, forgotten oldies.

The bread in this ‘soulful sandwich’ comes in the form of BAZ MALEEDY at the start of the night and SIMON INGHAM at the end, ensuring a great night of quality, soulful delights!

Thinking about last months theme regarding mixing the best of the rare 70's and the 60's in the main room, this one would have fit right in.

One of two 45's Matt Brown released on the Jar-Val label and this could be the one for the 5th July at Culcheth. Doesn't get any better than this.

Here's another that can be found in the rare 70's section and this time it's one that Simon's been giving a lot of attention to lately, the wonderful Bobby Rich.

Just one more for today from the rare 70's soul variety, that's crossed over big time from the modern rooms.

Summer Soul; So Soulful Saturdays @ CULCHETH is where the ’Modern’ vibe takes over in the second room. Soulful 70’s mixed with classic 80’s all the way through to some of today’s brand new vinyl releases make So Soulful Saturday’s a must visit night out for those who love Modern Soul in all its forms.

DJ’s Just back from the Blackpool International Soul Festival, STEVE PLUMB, is joined by CULCHETH resident BAZ MALEEDY, ‘Can You Dig It’ main man NICK McKINNON, Cassinellis and Newton Cricket Club DJ, BILL WILDMAN, Preston City Soul and top collector, CHARLIE SMITH and last but not least, new release champion PETE RATCLIFFE, all working together to bring you a night of everything from rare 70’s to modern soul classics, with a sprinkling of Jazz Funk and rare groove memories and those early doors, ‘first play’ future Modern Monsters.

So, it’s simple, MISS IT; MISS OUT…SEE YOU THERE!

Yes Baz the SAINTS was a great venue for playing modern/crossover soul mixed in with all the northern stuff, and many years later you're still at it promoting forward thinking venues. Please note the Bobby Rich ended up in the Leigh rare soul swap shop up in Mr Cunliffe's loft.

Happy Birthday Ian🫶

This one from The Combo Kings, released in 2012, was part of a 6 singles box set of previously unreleased Arctic recordings. This is a bit special..

Yes, Monsieur Maleedy pointed me in the direction of this and an Arctic boxset winged it's way too Leeds. East Lancs sc is having it on 26th July, followed by Clarendon in Wolvo and CVH, both in september😉👍

I remember RS taking me to Anglo American one Saturday morning, Tim's normally closed on Saturday but he opened up especially for his highness.

This was before he started doing auctions, so if it was there it was for sale and Romona Collins was there with Dickies name on it.

It was great being one of the in-crowd for a day.🤩

However there's one part of the day that seems a bit fuzzy, I seemed to remember Tim took us to the pub and bought us lunch after we'd spent a small

fortune with him, but after getting to know him all of these years later, there's no way that can be true. He lives borderline Yorkshire.thumbup
