About The Event

The Ashton Ukrainian club has gone from strength to strength following the re-launch in 2021 and a move to Saturday night. For 2025 we're looking once again to continue delivery quality rare and underplayed soul from the residents and ever growing list of outstanding guests.

Speaking of ‘Rare & Underplayed Soul’ we use that phrase to capture what Ashton tries to deliver musically, which is worth expanding upon.

Mainly it's an attempt to move away from the standard music policy strap lines we’re all so used to seeing like; Northern, 60s & 70s, Crossover, Modern, across the board etc. etc. whilst genuinely trying to capture an ethos. The words ‘rare’ and ‘underplayed’ are intended to apply both in their own right and together, it certainly isn't supposed to be limited rare records that are also underplayed……we should have added quality in there too LOL.

In a nutshell you will hear all three combinations of the phrase on any given night at the Ukrainian Club; ‘Rare’ (but not for rarities sake) ‘Underplayed’ (but not because they’re not good enough) and of course ‘Rare & Underplayed’ but, all with one eye on the dancefloor.

We don’t have a music ‘policy’, all our residents & guests are free to express themselves as they wish, which we believe adds to the magic. So simply expect a great night of quality soul music if you ever get the chance to join us at our friendly little club.

    Our Late Summer event at Ashton Ukrainian Club is just over a week away. Saturday August 16th is the date for your diary and judging by the response on all the platforms, lots of people already have that pencilled in !!

    Andrew Dyson will be making an all too infrequent appearance behind the decks, after previous WOWSER appearances at Ashton in recent years!!

    Gis Southworth Preston Cyberman OG has an eclectic taste in our music from the Stafford Evergreens to bargain basement cheapies. Always an interesting and varied set and of course head gear!!

    Stockport's Stephen Morgan is looking forward to his set and has sent a list of current faves, some real nice stuff, all will be available for you to check out on our previously mentioned link at the bottom of this post!!

    Team Ukrainian Fixer Simon Ingham has some Jaw dropping recent finds for you to savour, look forward to that!!

    Phil Dunn will be taking care of your business early doors, always something interesting in his set, Chris Churm will be adding a quality seal to the night's proceedings, always worth the wait, rest assured!!

    The Lounge/Bar Area is home to a plethora of Sales Boxes and a place to catch up. The night runs 7pm-00.30 and £6 admission, pay on the door!

    Gis Southworth provides The Monday Morning Banger on the run up to the event. Early 70s Dancer from Cleveland Ohio that was a popular spin at The Mecca and a track that has lasted the test of time !!!
