By popular demand (well, about three people anyway) here's another Sunday picture quiz. Just a bit of fun so feel free to join in - no shame in having a punt.

As usual our mystery person is a non-soul related artist who has had at least one tune played on the Northern Soul scene. I'll take questions to which I can answer 'yes' or 'no' - and will provide extra clues if we're really struggling.

To be honest, something makes me think we might have had this one before. You know what it's like when your memory starts going...

If that's the case it'll be a quick one. However I have another one prepared that's gonna be a real toughie!

Who's the lady?

There's a limit on howmany posts you can make in a short time on this board so I'll answer a couple of questions together

Not a group - solo singer. However, like Sandy Posey her songs are sometimes classed as "Girl Group' records

Her Northern tune was massive in Wigan Years.

plum down the middle...Joannie Summers..smile.gif

Miss D. D Philips.

Paula Durante ? :chinstroke:

Susan Farrah ? :chinstroke:

Miss D. D Philips.

No pic unfortunately - Did she have sizeable hits? (Stop sn*****ing at the back Grantdyche!) I don't think so...

Time for a recap:

Had several ( non-soul) American hits. First one in 1961 when she was 16 years old.

Some of her records are Girl Group sounds - although she's a solo artist

She's white and American - probably Italian extraction

Had a tune huge at Wigan

I can answer yes/no questions

Gonna have a quick shower and will be back with clues but will have a quick look at recent posts first.

Cheers for input this week - amazing!

Regardless of who wins you get the prize for most attentive student, Trog. Unfortunately, however, it's a hat with "I'm a smart alec' written on it.

!961 it is thumbsup.gif

That's three. Make your mind up.

The prize is mine - Lesley Gore.

That's a great guess in terms of the sort of artist Tabs. I recall she had "My Town. My Guy and Me" played on the Northern scene and possibly a couple of others, but she didn't have a tune as big as this at the Casino

Leslie Gore
