just browsing through the sales section on here ,seen a copy of the masquaraders how big is big on bell for £40.00 vg+,thought thats not a bad price and then browsing a little further down on the sales list another seller is selling another copy for £90.00 .how can two peoples prices on a record worth under a ton differ so much ?

Simple. Some people are expensive to buy from, some aren't. We all know who they are. What makes the prices differ so much can only boil down to one thing and that's greed.

To be fair Pete, the one at £90 might be mint, and it was reaching those prices a couple of years back (Johhny Ovenchips books it at £100).

So it's probably more a case of someone quoting "book price" minus a bit in the hope it will sell, rather than someone plucking a ridiculous value out of thin air.

Personally, i'd say £50 for a minter and lesser copies scaled down accordingly.

to me if ive sold stuff on here i obviously want to get back what ive paid for the record plus maybe a tenner on top for something under a ton.

no it isn't, it just gives you an indication and doesn't list everything that goes through ebay. Auctions are not a true representation of the price, an auction usually comes down to two individuals and and all logic often goes out of the window.

to some it doesn't, many list vg+ for what a minter should go for and plenty pay mint prices for vg or vg+ condition discs.

Don't think it's just on here that there's differences. Sometimes you have to go compare .

On Saturday I bought a copy of Cynthia & The Imaginations - There's Something the Matter - Magic City for £25, admittedly it's not mint, but it does play excellent with no background noise. In the past year there's been a few copies listed on here ranging between £30 to £100 from different sellers, but then it's listed on John Manships site for £150!

Believe it or not ,some people are collector /dj's and buy things originally for themselves. That being the case he/she could have paid decent money a yr or so when it was more indemand ,thus trying to recoup some o the loss it is gonna incur..However if a dealer happend upon a copy cheap then he /she can afford to let it go for the current going rate ....or another angle is ,they could have had it for yrs when it cost peanuts and thus can afford to sell it cheaper.
