Hi, Any of you guys know about this

SOULED OUT

IN DEVELOPMENT

Developed with the support of Northern Film and Media.

SHORT SYNOPSIS

It's 1974, an age of industrial unrest, beer at fifteen pence a pint, and flares wide enough to sweep the pavements.

This is the moment for two young lads from the North East of England as they throw themselves into their own hilarious coming of age, set against the backdrop of the explosive Northern Soul movement, the dance culture that goes on to drive Britain through its own cultural rites of passage.

They are holding auditions here in Dublin today for NS Dancers. Don't know weather its being filmed over here or not.

You could be in it mate, with your youthful look    How's yer dancin'?

link

 Not good enough for the film industry, now where are them dance classes whistling.gif:P

Hi ya Baz, but some of us still look fairly young you know!

link

Yes i know wasn't saying anything like that, the age range for the dancers is just a guide i would have thought

Oh well I missed that bit didnt I so what about suggestions for lead parts then.....

I suggest no female floorwork dancers as the the boobs get in the way...  whistling.gif and Karen I too, can dance just as well as a bloke to the stompers and spinners, but from a self gratifying position, there aint nowt so sexy as a soulboy in full flow on the dance floor specially when they are fit

As for the gay thing.... Scotland.... Kilts/Skirts... come on......  :P

link

Well Colin Farrell or Johnny Depp - Im quite happy to teach either or both !!!

Not if you tape them down!!

I agree just as long as they dont spin their sweat all other you, I know its meant to be 'sexy' but sorry doesnt do it for me!

So we're back on the 100 club & wot to wear thread now!?

Dont have big egos oh no ,you and your m8 paulie are,nt doing to bad you sarcastic pair of cunts.Oh and just to set the record straight both my parents are irish and i lived in dublin for 3 yrs so i have been there once or twice, but feel free to visit any of my venues to continue this.

link

Sarcasm in reply to patronising matey, has everything regards NS got to revolve around you or wherever you sanction!

and why would i want/have to visit and hear some rude swearing bloke arrogantly continue inform me how great HIS VENUES are.

As said a thread bout film, keep your bigger best boasts for hyping up your venue and we'll keep the faith in our little world.

You want vinegar with that big chip?

I remember when me and others (remember Janine?) were asked to dance on a glass floor!!

Has anyone got any duk tape??????

Bruce willis...... but hes too old now to star in this film

and the smell of Brut... cor......

I'm a retro girl at heart whistling.gif

I'm surprised that Paul Sadot isn't in this what with his mate from Dead Mans Shoes in it too...he doesn't  look any older than Paddy Considine and he can do all that 70s northern dancing with the floorwork, spinning etc.  Would have thought he'd have been perfect for a part in this, especially cos of his knowledge of the scene back then having been part of it plus , obviously, directing the Wigan play.

link

Dont think the director would like this,Mr Sadot will add beer towls and dont forget the dancing lessons, could be big spin-offs whistling.gif

P.S. hope the foots on the mend

Sorry you missing the point, the scene is not as male dominated as it was, which is good, Im of the view that everyone on telly, plays, etc always has to look good, look young, etc., but in real life . . .

Hi Karen,

Fair point, but not exactly reinforced by your choice of avatar? whistling.gif

Hope that doesn't include falling off anything Mark  .... like a stool whistling.gif ....

Leave that to Taff - that's his trick! :P:unsure:

Got visitors Mark  .... language a bit tame today :P ....

Anyway.... I'm sure Brett would relish the chance of joining you in any bar scenes  .... and Shane, with his unique collection of shirts and tops, could be advisor with the wardrobe department whistling.gif ....

Just got back on this thread (sorry Richie, THE Nicky Newarkers isn't for sale).

Anyway, didn't realise I would have created such a kerfuffle (love that word) by responding to Soultown Andy's reply.

Now Andy. Don't take things too seriously. It is, after all only music. BTW, just shows how little you know us. Danny and I have never been described as m8s! However, I will say that in this instance, yes we are and it's a pleasure to know him. Sleepless Nights in Dublin is an amazing night and if you've never tried it, you should. I reckon it'll be an eye-opener.

Paulie

PS. Please don't beat me up

That's what I meant.....and I didn't say I disliked it whistling.gif

You are missing my point, your example of Paul Weller wanting male dancers for his video is sexist, is what I am disagreeing with and I made no mention about the soul scene as it was or is. What I was saying was that Weller must have had an idea in his mind of how he wanted to video to look - call it artistic license. He doesn't have to produce a video that replicates 'real' life or 'real' people, just like say Picasso for example (obscure I know!). He paints a portrait of a person and it ends up looking nothing like the person.

"Im of the view that everyone on telly, plays, etc always has to look good, look young, etc., but in real life . . ."

Again I don't agree. 'Cutting It' (BB1) the mother of the family her character was a Wigan regular, concieved one of her children in the car park there and she's no beauty.

It really is how the director/ producer etc want it to look. Not how we would like to see it. I personally would love to see a film based on the scene as it is now ohmy.gif Anyone fancy doing one?

Ok, ie. when you see women dancing on the tv they are protrayed as sexy - with little on - but not artistic! Whereas a man would be - thats my view - like so was what I said before! :P

I think Cutting It was an exception and I wish we could have more like that! ohmy.gif

Yes - when do we start?:)

Well Colin Farrell or Johnny Depp - Im quite happy to teach either or both !!!

Why are they holding auditions in dublin, hardly a hot bed of northern events.

Soltown Andy - i asked myself the same question

I'd like to say its because the irish soul fans are a hell of a lot more pohotogenic that the average British soul fan ohmy.gif

but i suspect its more to do with funding

anyway - think the right thing to do now is apolgise to Danny and Paulie for calling them cunts and from what i read some sort of 'meet you outside in the carpark" language and then we can all forget about this nasty undercurrent.

As for the Irish / Dublin soul scene - doesnt need any sort of defence from me - it is what it is.
