Well done to Carms for getting what seems to me a bit of a bargain.

Got me thinking though-How many times has this classic backing track been used

Larry Laster

Larry Atkins(Same fella?)

Ike & Tina

Ty Karim

Any more out there??

Tony

And do both the aforementioned versions have the same backing track as

Larry Laster/Atkins/ Ty Karim etc

or have we quickly drifted into a discussion of how many versions of "Somebody Somewhere "??

And just for good measure, who used it first ??

T

Ike and Tina's 'Somebody needs you' was released in May 1965.

Larry Laster's 'Go for yourself' was a year later, in May 1966.

Darrell Banks' 'Somebody (somewhere) needs you' hit the Billboard R&B Charts 22nd Oct 1966 and stayed there for four weeks, peaking at No 34. It also made it to 55 in the Pop Charts.

It hasn't got here yet :D I used to have the Ike & Tina and also Love Larry Atkins ...this must be one of the all time best backing tracks.

Bit of subject but I still love Larrys other 45 on Duo Virgo - Thats Just What You Did just a brilliant and underreated/played tune.

One of my faves, fantastic record thumbsup.gif

Here you go - a few scans - was a good excuse to dig em out and give 'em a spin.

First five have the same/same-ish backing track.

Last one is the 70's version of the Lighten up tune.

Take care and have a great Xmas.

Show off !!

The Highland Larry Atkins just has to be one of the great Northern double-siders. The flip to me defines what traditional Northern is all about.

Fook, I'm half pissed
