Boxy
Sad news indeed. Val and myself had the pleasure of visiting Clarence and his wife Iona at his home on our many trips to Chicago. With the help from my good friend Edward Keyes we managed to arrange the release of a CD via Garry Cape's Soulscape label - "South Side Soul Survey" SSCD 7003. 23 Tracks all produced by Clarence and liner notes by Robert Pruter. As Bob stated in his notes: After 1980 Clarence Johnson's output was sporadic but for at least a half-decade from approximately 1970 to 1976 he was one of the hottest producers in Chicago and helped to sustain the city as a thriving center for recorded music. Our thoughts go out to Iona and his family at this very sad time. Both Clarence and Iona always made us welcome on our visits and took pleasure in talking to us about his music. He will be deeply missed by all of us. David & Val Box 1 2 Link to comment Social source share

boba
One of my favourite tunes ever - Differences - Five Minutes. RIP Clarence. Jordi Hi Jordi, I think you're confused. The differences 5 minutes is not from chicago, are you thinking of Clifton Dyson who was in the differences? Link to comment Social source share
Miss Stress
Only just joined Soul Source I have been trying to get back in touch with Iona Johnson ever since 11.11.22 which is the date that Des Parkes passed suddenly. Like AWB the family he left behind are still trying to Pick Up The Pieces Link to comment Social source share
