Think I've seen the Dells at 50 / 60 but balked at that price on ebay. Not just the boots going for daft money..

Rare Pleasure usually goes for about £30 - £50. But £100+ is just plain silly...

Proves a point again- a record is 'worth' what some one will pay for it.

I paid five pounds for something the other day and I'm so pleased with it 'cos I really like it a lot. Dunno what its 'worth'.

why do people pay these sort of prices? I sold a copy of the rare pleasure 45 on my site last month for £10 and it was there for over a month before it sold. don't these people look around for records? I made a profit so i'm happy and the guy that bought it is, he got a record he wanted for the right price, do people just get ebay fever or something? this is not a rare record on 7 - was it the 7 that sold? I know the 12 goes for more as it's in demand with the disco collectors and there are less copies about.

I have a UK copy of Rare Pleasure with the Demo sleeve. 20p I think it was. It's quite good IMO but nowhere near what was paid on ebay. I have the 4 Tops version of Your Song in a pic sleeve with a release sheet. What is the story on this, was it withdrawn? I like the Laura Lee version the best, which was the original? Am I asking too many questions?

I'm pretty sure that Laura Lee came out first, she had 'gone gospel' by the time the Four Tops version was released in (from memory 1984-5). I don't believe that the Tops version was withdrawn, I sold plenty of copies of it as a new release in Cavern Records in Lewisham, and there were never any stock problems.

Love Levi and Laura to bits, but you just can not beat the great Marvin Junior on this one!

The Four Tops version of "Your Song" got a full UK 12" release at least. Was it on Calibre ? My copy is long gone now but I think the mix must have been messed with because from memory it didnt work at all.

Yes, the 12 inch - which was on Calibre - was 'corrupted', but The 7 inch is fine, Simon. If you get a chance to grab one, it's worth doing so...

The price of RP may have inflated owing to the fact that it was sampled by David Morales for the disco house track "Needing You" a few years back and all the sample chasers are now aware of it, case in point being "What About My Love" & The Shapeshifters.

first choice is a bit smoother a bit more salsoul, but without the rare pleasure piano riff that was sampled. a better version imho.

I kept hearing that 'Freemasons' record. Like most of that stuff the only good bit is the sample !

I enjoyed The Freemasons as with The Shapeshifters, certainly big tunes in the dance and for that commercial clubs when they were released...
