Killer Chicago Northern Soul and a former Cleethorpes Pier and Wigan Casino dancefloor filler.

From the pen of THE MOB’s lead man James Holvay comes a most-perfectly uplifting blue-eyed Northern Soul dance tune. Before you today is not only it’s rarest form - the 1967 UK DEMO but also accompanied by the European Picture sleeve (carrying the same release #) that the CBS promotional team decided would add extra interest to their mail-out.

UK Oriole also used this ploy for extra-attention with some of their licensed Motown promo’s. A package I’ve certainly not seen in memory and the ultimate way of owning this fine song!

One of the ultimate UK Tamla Motown albums to own - ridiculously RARE!

This copy has beautiful clean vinyl only revealing occasional fine hairline surface blemishes in strong light - plays flawless. Both labels are perfect. Front cover has light corner bumps and a few very light laminate crease-veins (see scan) Back cover is totally clean and free of any writing stains or tears.

Overall this is a fine, fine copy of an album we have only ever listed twice in the last 20 years.

Martha Reeves’s first album perfectly displaying the black artist prejudiced of the early 60s when some record shops refused to stock albums with “black” artist pictures as the front cover.

Historically priceless, musically supreme…rarity is unquestionable.

Poke the iconic Cleethorpes Pier DJ was never one to follow the crowd, being the first jock to spin Rain - Out Of My Mind, perhaps followed by Calvin Grayson and somewhere in the set was Holly Maxwell, Herbert Hunter and preceded by some crazed FUNK 45 that no one had ever heard of.

Poke never a DJ scared of an empty floor - because he knew he had the tools in his box to bring ‘em back.

Some of the late 60s green & white Tamla Motown PROMO’s are actually more elusive than the much-prized mid-60s Red & White’s. Our 15 year old computer data suggests this example is one of the very seldom-seen ones.

Absolutely immaculate copy, perfect labels, vinyl only revealing two breif faint blemishes in strong light. This is a beautiful example of Motown most covered Northern Soul offering. With B. J. Thomas, Bay Brothers, Electrifying Cashmeres, Buddy Miles, Motherlode all doing fabulous versions - but not having the luxury of Autry DeWalt’s sax-god skills. This still is the standout version of Johnny Bristol, Harvey Fuqua & Vernon Bullock finest creation.

This 8 member band had standing room only performance in Hartford, Connecticut. You’d think from this double punchy example of their only recorded work they were seasoned professionals but the vast majority of the band attended Hartford High School when this killer was recorded.

Tony Bowens - Sax, Lonnie Bowens - Bass, Diane Bowens - rhythm guitar, two trumpets were blown by Bob Witting & Glen Scott, Carl Colbert on the Drums, Eli Williams - lead guitar and Phil Andrews on the hammond.

Excruciatingly RARE and so darn potent =- BOTH sides!

don't know values of 12"s. Dave Thorley has a copy of the 45 on his website for sale for $30. i do know someone who's one of terry's best friends and also have emails of a humorous interaction between a collector who was selling a copy of the 45 and terry contacting him and threatening him.
