Got a copy of the above 45 in the mailbox today which looks mint,a nice copy visually indeed. The problem is though that it sounds lo-fi at best.Very quiet pressing and some distortion too (in the right channel)l.Are all copies like this or are some copies better sounding than others?

My copy plays very quiet too. Didn't notice that much of a sound distortion tho.

I think it's just a poor press and not well mastered, the story of so many great 45's, all the Modo stuff for a start. The slow flip sounds better than the uptempo side.

Love this but had to move mine on partly due to the pressing issue - shame as the 45 is amazing. What price if an alt studio take recorded properly showed up??

But was the problem with the quality of the master tape recording or just what it sounded like when converted into vinyl format ??

Maybe there's a pucker original master tape that sounds just great (but where that would be found now is anyone's guess).

Is there a ghetto in St. Petersburg?

it was a qualitative description of the recording but that said, it does appear that there is at least blight in the city:

in 2010, 15.9% of the houses were vacant, and I'm guessing they're concentrated in specific areas. i don't know what it was like in the early 70s though.
