...it packed the floor with body-topped girls with pleated skirts spinning like tops........think there were some blokes there as well but I don't recall them...... :D

I played it out not too long ago...and it was as if I'd played the theme from the Magic Roundabout......

Great (okay quirky) tunes being lost??? Or was it just the venue?...I doubt it somehow....shame if nobody loves it anymore!!! :(

  • I think you can write this off to "time and place" To my non-wiganed ears it sounds like something from The Benny Hill show :-)

Oh Dear....looks like I'm lining myself up for the 'Billy No-Taste' award again..... :( .....although.... look at the tunes that made it into the 'most-hated' thread....this one was conspicuous by its absence was it not. :D ....and it's miles better than the Detroit bloody Executives and '2 minutes shouting' by Rubin!!!

Sea Cruise was a really popular record in 75, as was the UK cover by Sax Of Soul. It is definitely 'of it's time' but it's no worse than it's label-mate Little Queenie by Bill Blacks Combo.

No, no surprise. :)

I'd say it was 'alright'.

Cud I just add to the debate , as a 15-16 year old just starting out , ace cannon and saxi Russell were the sounds that blew me away back then and although they havnt got the same affect I still like em , and to add fuel to the fire I went to a soul night last sat and they played the flasher , now then that is shite , always was and will be or is it just personal taste and getting grumpy as we get older , ?, ha ,

No, no surprise. :)

As a closet rocker, I prefer Frankie Ford's original any day.

Those so-called "crazy line dancers" are probably doing "the stroll" - similar to line dancing, but given a tastier euphemism........
