I've seen all of the threads about confirmation of an original issue copy and the conclusion seems to be raised Archer stamp in the dead wax, so not intending to go there again with this thread.

What I can't find on here is what I'd expect to pay for an original with the raised Archer and the only reference I can find is in The JM price guide at £200.

Don't seem to see many up for sale these days so is £200 still about the going rate? 

 

It is amazing how this has disappeared in recent years. I even remember quite a lot of demo's doing the rounds at one time, it now seems to be a 'holy grail' and fetches big money. I would have thought it was just too fast for today?

Same here.

Yeah it doesn't come up for sale often and as you both say it might be too much of a stomper for today, even at 100% oldies nights.

Maybe that could affect the valuation though eh?

Less demand meaning that maybe when it does come up for sale the price its much lower than price guide valuation, which is several years old now.

Also, there seems to be a lot of people investing their money in rare vinyl, probably due to the recession and terrible interest rates for savers. You only have to look at the value of precious metals, Antiques, Art and classic cars to see what I mean.

So far we've established that it could be a little on the fast side for today's scene, pretty rare and does not come up for sale very often but.......

Based on the above it may well be above the £200 quoted by JM's price guide

On the originality front there's quite a few previous threads which seem to come to the conclusion that the larger raised Archer stamp was the original and the smaller staggered Archer stamp the counterfeit , along with several other bootleg variations.

Definitely not too fast for my taste but IF it is for some, then along with current rarity may affect today's value, which is what the original question is based on.

Ok Awake. I have asked Tim Brown, he says it's worth around a ton. I also looked on popsike and that looks about right.

suprising though that if any of us had a spare £100 we probably wouldn't be able to go out and buy one tomorrow.

Must be a case of not particularly rare for the issue but doesn't very often show up for sale.
