Posted April 30, 201411 yr OK, so what have been the most popular instrumentals by Sandy Nelson on the northern scene?
April 30, 201411 yr There's a lot of them but the only one I can ever remember hearing out, and this was way way back about 1975, was Love Is Like An Itching In My Heart, which was actually booted on a 45. They're all LP tracks I think.
April 30, 201411 yr Author This appeared on an early Kent LP of northern classics but was it actually played to any degree ?
April 30, 201411 yr He did loads but maybe they were local biggies, for instance the one on the Kent lp above, never heard it anywhere except on that LP. He did stacks of soul covers, Twine Time, Land of 1000 Dances, Nothings Too Good For My Baby (included on UA Northern LP), Cool Jerk etc
April 30, 201411 yr Author This must obviously be a 45 boot ? Edited April 30, 201411 yr by sunnysoul
April 30, 201411 yr Imperial. I'm sure mine's on UA. It's been years since I've seen it so I could be wrong.
April 30, 201411 yr This must obviously be a 45 boot ? Yes thats on the other side of Love Is Like An Itching I think, both LP tracks
April 30, 201411 yr Everything he did is just not quite right for djing imo. He does an inst version of 'I dont need no doctor' which would be great if it wasnt ruined by heavy guitar solo. I think I nearly thought about playing his 'drums a go go' 45 once, it uses the kinks 'all day' riff with drum breaks but is pretty shit in the final analysis. edit - oops, that last one's hal blaine sorry. May 1, 201411 yr What was played from this lp? Don't know but that picture is a classic. Front row Dave Rivers ?, Andy Simpson and Ian Levine. Back row Mick Smith ? (left) buts who's the one on the back right ?
