January 25, 201510 yr WOW! esplendido! What vitriol, dave mc really told it like it was [i was cussed for "EG" by PWW M ] .What would he have to say about todays PC prima donnas? I knew and adored Dave Mc from his Casino days to his epitaph mag "soul Galore" in the 90s .in that he created the format ;a label scan and 30 words of wisdom, which has become the norm for todays NS journalistic itelligensia. I remember well a telephone chat in 1989 ,"hey johnny, Brownie thinks im wasting my time with my mag as he has a " technicolour" version waiting in the wings, " he paused for another shreddy,, "You know what I think Ill keep on wasting some more time" Gracias for esplendido posting.
January 25, 201510 yr Excellent. Has anyone got the one with the drawing Of Guy Hennigan in bed? The legend that is Pete Lawson not mincing his words ( RIP Pete). Edited January 25, 201510 yr by Byrney
January 25, 201510 yr I've only ever seen closely guarded copies of these, and had them read out to me, sadly I haven't got time to read more than a couple of pages at the moment, but was nearly peeing myself with what I did read. I'll be back for more tomorrow hopefully. You can understand why Northern soul folk don't like alternative comedians, there was far funnier stuff available years ago.

January 26, 201510 yr Where can I buy a copy of Soul Pack Sound. Sounds awsome! Can't see it on discogs!
January 27, 201510 yr Ah my review of Mansfield, as my brief role as "Groovin's" roving reporter (there wasn't a 2nd issue!) Dave had a habit of editing your copy, putting his own jokes in etc. that Pete got the right hump about!! :-)
January 27, 201510 yr Just as an aside, as your roving report squire, was there a small room at the Swan? I for the life of me cannot remember it belly laughs all the way with this mag ( which was a tad embarrassing on my train commute yesterday), sums up the irreverent nature of the scene in them days, no one was off limits and all were fair game.
