Just read a comment in the for sale section that got me thinking :g:

I always thought the Schema 12'' was the original, am I wrong?

  • The fact that it's a 12" matters little to a good DJ.......there are ways to deal with such things!  It's all about the 7" fetish I'm afraid, it clearly can't be down to a pieces "originality"!!! Besi

  • The 12" is over 7 minutes long because that is how long it was made to last. The 7" is just a pointless edit with bits missing for people who put format before quality.

  • Why would anyone try and force this tune into a northern night? Nice tune an' all that but northern?

Yes, and legally (re-)issued on a 7" on the Unique Label from Düsseldorf/Germany

The 12's over 7 minutes long, so probably a bit too long for inclusion in a Northern set.  Plus there is the 7" attraction.

Besides that, Was-A-Bee is the original version of the song.........

Mr. Burgess of Soul Intent 1st played this as a new release  back in 2004 (Was A Bee) at our 1st venue ,the Worksop crowd threw beer mats and jeered at him whilst he was playing it.

As a side note have you heared Shilly Bassys version of this

Interesting, thanks for that. i was expecting something different when i saw a DSB version, it just sounds so "matter of fact" and not nice and smooth. shame, but thanks for posting

I love the 12inch of this tune, the way it's supposed to be. I know it's 7 minutes long but pure quality...
