Maxine Brown is a wonderful singer imo. Saw her at Cleethorpes just a few years ago and she still had a great voice. Loved all those posted on here but this just takes me back to 1965 when I bought it as a new release after hearing it in the clubs I frequented. Great flipside too.

I just picked up a spare copy of the promo EP for her We’ll Cry Together LP. It’s the only way to get Maxine’s version of See and Don’t See on 7 inch and comes in a groovy pic sleeve.

I love Marie Queenie Lyons’ take of this song, but Maxine’s is a nice alternative, where she sounds defiant rather than devastated like MQL. It also has immense drums and a great driving brass arrangement. Top stuff!
