If I have a fairly nice copy of a rare record, which I paid a lot of money for, is it...problematic if I pay a lot of money for the same record on a different-looking version of the same label (equally valued by collectors)?

If your cash flow allows then do it, i've got a couple on different labels and US & UK issues but all at the cheaper end of the market.

No, it’s not a problem. If you are a dedicated collector, then go forth and collect. Some go for demos and issues. Others go for West Coast and East Coast releases. Just lately, I’ve started holding on to label variations to avoid the hassle of selling records I already had a copy of. Better to have and to hold...

Now so tempted to put up Don Covay " It's better to have (and don't need).

“Miss Lulu’s Wig” by Leonard Lee. Got the green Trumpet label. Pink label’s on eBay now. It’s one of my favorite records. Great and weird.

Don't begrudge anyone doing it. Each to there own, but it's not an element, in collecting thats ever appealed to me, or the zest for the unheard, that's drivin the scene for so many years.
