Patsie Slater – Bye bye love / That’ll get it – Douglas 100

Moody popcorn that’s becoming very sough after on the rare soul scene as of late. Only takes once listen to figure out why.

Visual grade: EX

The Fabulous Arcades – Watch me work / Captivation – Puff 1106

Storming funky edged Detroit northern. Super clean copy and very modestly priced.

Visual grade: EX

Beverly Ann – You’ve got your mind on other things / Until you – RCA 47-9468

Rare stock copy! Plays perfect.

Visual grade: VG+ to EX

Four Coins – Forward together / Hocus pocus-dominocus – Lan-Co 6900

Rare crossover group soul. Extremely rare press with a different flip. I’m guessing this came out before ‘Maybe she’s right’. Pressed slightly off-center.

Visual grade: VG

Oscar Martinez Orch. – Tortillitas de Manteca / Me quieres-o-no me quieres? – El Zarape 123

Rare Tex-Mex tittyshaker that’s impossible to find, especially on this label.

Visual grade: VG+

Changing Tymes – You live only once / Try it once again – AMG 8034-31

Sought-after modern with a rarer version of the Imperial Wonders tune.

Visual grade: EX to M-

Jackie Shane – Comin’ down / In my tenement – Sue 788

Two slices of R&B fire, Comin’ Down always had the edge for me so recorded that side, but any of the two makes it worth snapping up.

Visual grade: EX

Carl Carlton – I can feel it / You’ve got so much – Back Beat 617 DJ Copy

Probably needs no introduction. All-time northern dance floor packer. Plays perfect.

Visual grade: VG+

The New Editions – Wastin’ no time / Vargo – New Edition 1000

Two slices of driving Philly funk. Super clean copy.

Visual grade: EX

Santo and Eddy – I never felt so lonely / A fool I would be – Lads 101

Atmospheric Philly popcorn that featured on the infamous Popcorn Bangers mix.

Visual grade: Strong VG+

Bernard Terry – Try my god / Instrumental – Silver Sunic 412013

Gospel boogie grail, rare original. Looks VG+ for the most part but has a heat damaged area that causes an audible swoosh thoughout.

Visual grade: G

Diane Jenkins – Recycle / Gee baby, what about you – Creative Funk 12003

Sister funk with a message and a beautiful deep flip.

Visual grade: Strong VG+, warp NAP

The Flairs – Where you live / You got to steal it – Rap 007

Two sides of Chicago crossover magic. Great recording with crisp drums.

Visual grade: M-

Mongo Santamaria – We got latin soul / same – Columbia 4-44998 DJ Copy

Driving Latin stormer. Beautiful copy on a vinyl (!) demo.

Visual grade: M-

Zen Fuller – Doomsday / Take a memo from a fool – Acama 128 DJ Copy

Mid-tempo popcorn R&B shaker. Has some surface marks but plays very strong.

Visual grade: VG

Young Jesse – The wrong door / Lula-Belle – Capitol 4318

Late 50s R&B from this underground hero during a short spell at Capitol.

Visual grade: EX

Mosquitoes – The fly (long version / short version) – Spear 1001

The only way to have both Manny Corchado’s versions of Pow-Wow without spending four figures. Beautiful copy and a strong press.

Visual grade: M-

The Royal Jokers – You tickle me baby / You came along – Fortune 560

Crude Detroit R&B jiver in beautiful condition.

Visual grade: M-

Willie Mae (Big Mama) Thornton – Summer time / The truth’ll come to the light – SotoPlay 0034

There’s a million versions out there but this has to be one of the deepest. Clean copy too.

Visual grade: EX

Bobby Barnes – Times are bad / I shed a tear – Discovery 1311

Gritty late 60s funk. Bobby’s best known for his deep ballads and the flipside is one of the best he ever put out imo.

Visual grade: Strong VG+

Amanda Humphrey – Power of love / Call on me – USA 840

Sixties Chicago double-sider.

Visual grade: Strong VG+

Syl Foreman – Before I leave you / Got to pay some dues – Adell 103

Minneapolis R&B that came out on three or four labels. This release has the beautiful Pay Some Dues on the flip as an added bonus.

Visual grade: Strong VG

Gerri Granger – Castle in the sky / What’s wrong with me – Bigtop 45-3110

Beautiful femme popcorn in excellent condition.

Visual grade: EX

Kiosk – Mona call / Waterproof – Love

Rare numbered reissue of the ultimate Belgian funk grail. Nice crisp sound on this one.

Visual grade: M-

The Casinos – If I told you / Everybody can’t be pretty – Del-Val 1002

Uplifting northern sound that for some reason has always stayed under the radar for a lot of collectors.

Visual grade: VG+ to EX
